Starting May 2nd and ending June 6th, the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, NY, is showing all available films of the great Kenji Mizoguchi. Anybody on the east coast who loves films should know about this! I'm going to try to make the May 3rd screening of Sansho the Bailiff, one of the greatest of all time, with a pre-screening presentation by the premier film scholar, David Bordwell as well as the May 10th screening of The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums. This is an awesome opportunity to check out one of the greatest directors of all time!

Thanks for the heads-up. I won't make the trip out to Queens just for Mizoguchi, but who knows. I have a couple friends who live right near there and love him, and I'm going to be visiting one of them on the third..
