Proud artists with bombs

What do you guys think of when you see an actor being rewarded and smiling and being proud on red carpets when the movie is watched by like 10 people and it bombing so hard.

Don't you see a disconnect ? art is supposed to connect with people. The more people art connects to the more successful the art is. If it only connects to a handful of people how is it being celebrated ? kinda feels like an unnatural selfish process.

Eugh, not this again. Art shouldn't be rewarded the more it connects with people / is consumed by people.

Don't make me get my McDonalds analogy out again.

Meh, they have to stand and smile and say how great it is at junkets and on the carpet because it's their own work.

It's the same vein as the trailers and on the DVD covers where it always has stuff like:
"The greatest movie ever made, 5 stars", Joe Bloggs, Movie Magazine
Splashed all over the poster and DVD box-art... and then it turns out to be mediocre at best.

One of the biggest examples of having to play ball and smile and big-up the movie, is when Andrew Garfield was sick, and couldn't go to the junkets for Amazing Spider-Man 2, and they just fired him.
No matter how bad the movie is, they get paid as part of their contract to smile during interviews and never say anything negative.

Yeah, we've had this discussion before, you can always go reply to one of the posts in those threads if you actually want to discuss it, rather than sort of reset the conversation with the same opening claim again.
