Recommend me some pick-me-up, feel-good, comfort food movies

Films that feel like hugging a cushion, that make you feel good.

Here's my list of films like that:
Rent-a-Cat (2012)
Little Forest: Summer/Autumn (2014)
Little Forest: Winter/Spring (2014)
There Is No Lid on the Sea (2015)
The Furthest End Awaits (2014)
The Tale of Iya (2013)
Still Walking (2008)
Our Little Sister (2016)
Sleeping Man (1996)
Sweet Bean (2015)
Ponyo (2008)

Fantastic Mr. Fox is exactly what you're looking for

AgrippinaX 11-12-20 01:58 PM

Oh, I don’t know. Tough one, not exactly my genre, but as a mental exercise - Moonrise Kingdom (2012).

Not really what I'm looking for, but definitely a cute little film. Like it a lot when I watched it a couple of years ago.

What about Isle of Dogs, since we’re on the subject of WA?

I can feel NO wrong when I pop in Galaxy Quest. Or, if you're a fan of the movie but don't really want to bother with it, track down a copy of Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary. That totally warmed my heart and left me smiling way too long after.

:)

So it turns out you are capable of having ideas that aren't completely stupid after all!

I don't really know what you are looking for in that case, sorry.

Black Cat, White Cat? Definitely unusual, but very much feelgood.

Tampopo immediately comes to mind.

That’s that, then.

I do think ‘feel good’ is relative - nothing makes me feel better than The Conformist, but most people can’t relate.

Dave (1993)

Up (2009) - safe choice.

Spirited Away (2001) - controversial, I guess.

Blue Velvet (1986) - in the end, it’s uplifting.

Big (1988)

They are pretty obvious, so you’ll have seen them. Just interesting to see how many I can come up with.

@mark f kinda gets it. He's the closest, I think. Tampopo is a masterpiece, yes. Kinda what I'm after, too.

Watched Isle of Dogs, not really what I was looking for, but it was a fine film nevertheless.

I'm going to rep everybody in this thread just for participation and trying.
