Investigative movies that turns dangerous for investigators
 

I am looking for not well know but good movies where investigations prove to be more than what's bargained for by investigators.

It could be reporters or police or anyone curious enough to investigate. Examples of such movies

I suppose quite a few Gialli fit the bill, too. You could even say that something like Fulci's City of the Living Dead is a match. Also quite a few of the found footage horrors seem to be about paranormal investigations gone wrong (still they rarely involve proper investigation).

TV series examples here but something like Twin Peaks or The X Files?

I would say there's quite a few film noirs where the detective is in over their head.
