New Yorker Covers

From time to time I am going to post New Yorker covers that particularly impress me.
Trump has been a gold mine for the magazine. This one is titled Grounded. |

From time to time, I frame my covers by way of season. I am keeping this cover, entitled Private Beach, in my summer file. The artist lives in Barcelona, Spain near the beach. I love the solitary little dog. |

This week's cover is entitled Hell Train. To quote the artist, "... the only thing worse than descending into a New York City subway in July is descending into a New York City subway in August.” |

This cover, entitled Upstate, illustrates the artist's fear of the countryside. He feels very safe in Manhattan, but is afraid of the unknown in upstate New York. We used to have a house upstate & I felt the same way. I would walk around Manhattan in the middle of the night, but would never take a walk alone in the country. |

Re: New Yorker Covers
This may be the most hilarious New Yorker cover ever printed (I posted a similar sentiment btw in the 'You re given 10 million to make a movie thread', but mine was a one day rant, this is 31 days of hilarity!)
Omg everything that speaks if the miserable month of January!- lost keys in snow, cold gray wet , taxes due, still January, dentist, slip on ice - weird frozen pellets!!!-rotflmao Thank you Stirchley! |
Re: New Yorker Covers
You’re welcome! Though I was born in January, it is my least favorite month. A dozen annoying things happened this month, including half a tooth falling off, which necessitated my own dentist visit. I lived in Manhattan for a decade & one thing I never did was wait for the crosstown bus to show up.

Re: New Yorker Covers
As someone who writers screenplays for a hobby that cover speaks volumes to me.
Fyi, 'Screenplay', 'Story', and 'Save the Cat' are the three biggest books on screenwriting; that's why they're depicted on the cover. |

The artist said that the key to the cover is her apron on the back of the chair. How often a person struggles in NYC & sees others doing what they would like to do. |

Re: New Yorker Covers
What an unexpected and delightful thread! Good work. I have always liked their cover art. I was fortunate to find a CD set of all the New Yorker magazines from 1928 through the late 1990s. I like skimming the cover index and scanning the articles/cartoons from various decades.
