Disappointing Movie Sequels?

Ever see an awesome movie only to get let down by the sequel? Myself, I liked the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The sequel appalling. Whoever produced it should be incarcerated.

I thought that Spectre was pretty underwhelming compared to Skyfall

Kind of a lame answer, but the only example I can think of at the moment is the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The first one is so fun and enjoyable, but I honestly cannot recall a single plot point of the second one. Then the third one happened and sweet chocolate biscuits was I done. It's mildly bewildering that we're on like Pirates 7: Oops, Turned Out There Was a Bit More World Left or Whatever.

Speak for yourself, son.

I reckon Quantum of Solace was a more immediately underwhelming Bond sequel than Spectre. There was much more of a drop-off in quality between that and Casino Royale than between Skyfall and Spectre.

Ditto.

At least Spectre reached YOLT levels of ludicrous fun but I'm struggling to remember what Quantum was about...

The Exorcist II: The Heretic, the Exorcist is one of the greatest horror movies, so no wonder this one was disappointing.

Blade 2 wasn't very good. One of the things that I remember letting it down was an overuse of CGI.

Highlander 2 because it took all the mystique of the Immortals away.

Predator 2 was really bad, although I enjoy Danny Glover.

Poltergeist - I couldn't honestly describe the original as awesome (few movies are imo) but it is very good whilst both sequels are disappointing

The Matrix Reloaded

Larry Wachowski: "Hey, let's take every concept we introduced in the first movie and poop all over it!"

Andy Wachowski: "Great idea Larry! Hey, and hows about we include a bunch of pointless scenes of Rastafarians having orgies in a cave!"

Larry Wachowski: "Brilliant!"

Larry and Andy?

I feel like just about any comedy sequel could qualify. Blues Brothers 2000, Caddyshack II, Anchorman 2, etc.

i believe the matrix should have been a one movie saga because sequels were bad , only some parts of revolutions i feel was worth but anyway, neo the savior( jesus like although no one can compare like that) had to have a movie to tell us how neo was a savior of mankind

I actually like Poltergeist II almost as much as the first. Mostly because along with Pinocchio and The Exorcist it was the only film to truly scare me as a kid. Outside of Pazazu possessed Regan; Kane was the scariest character to me. While it's alot more flawed than the first and i get why others don't like it i still thoroughly enjoy it every time i watch it.

The Exorcist II is my answer here too. The first is one of my favourite films and that's one of my least favourites. I was so excited to see it the first time as a kid as well coz i'd finally overcame my fear of the first one then it was just such a mess; and somehow a really boring one too which shouldn't be possible considering how batsh!t it is.
