I'll start with a very easy one: https://i.imgur.com/OMHWBc9.gif |

William Wyler?

Re: Name the Director
I think it's supposed to be Wyler, but the top image with Audrey Hepburn is from Fred Zinnemann's The Nun's Story.
|
It is supposed to be William Wyler, I don't know why I thought he directed The Nun's Story, my bad.

Re: Name the Director
We're all posting about three pics. Could you do that?
|
Re: Name the Director
I could though I purposely checked the OP first to see if a single gif was okay.
I would know the director from just this one gif, but I will try a little later to post another gif if it’s unsolved. |
Quentin Tarantino?

Re: Name the Director
Sure is.

Re: Name the Director
That’s Silkwood so it’s Mike Nichols.

I agree with Citizen and I think it's MovieGal's turn.

I don't know who's turn it is, but...could we please follow the example of Scarlet Lion and post several gifs from a director in one post? If we just post one gif then it becomes a game much like guess the film from the screen shot. However with several gifs from different movies, it gives players more of a chance of knowing at least one of the gifs.

OK, that looks like Geoffrey Lewis in the first shot and Michael J. Fox in the last, but that's all I've got.

Four more from the same director...
|
OK, the only shot I recognized was the bottom one and that's from Saturday Night Fever, which I believe was directed by John Badham?

A very detailed answer to Badham is above your post.
I know your new one, of course, but I'll let somebody else take it. |

Re: Name the Director
I'm out of movie pic clues. Those are some very well known movies too, I'll see if Doc can get it @GulfportDoc
|
Well we need some other kind of hint then because none of these shots ring a bell here...for instance, has this director ever won an Oscar? More than one?

You can go ahead and post one and we'll let mine set, Doc might be able to guess it. |

This one may be too easy for MoFo's, but it's one of my most favorite films, and favorite directors...

Re: Name the Director
I thought we all agreed 3 gifs/pics was the way to keep the game flowing. How about two more from the same director? please:)

Carol Reed was a wonderful atmospheric director. My second favorite film of his was The Fallen Idol (1948) with Ralph Richardson, Michele Morgan, and the young Bobby Henrey. |
Re: Name the Director
Thanks Doc. I've seen The Third Man twice but didn't recognize that photo. BTW Who's turn is it?
|
I think it's my turn, if the correct answer is Sir Carol Reed
