Why did the FBI out Donnie Brasco to his crew?
 

Hi guys,



I was just watching the movie Donnie Brasco (with Pachino) and I did not quite understand the ending.

Why did the FBI guys tell Sony and Lefty and the others that Donnie was an FBI agent?

I just dont get that part.

I think I just saw it as a big 'f**k you' to the crew and they were boasting and making them look like fools, mocking them. They would have found out anyway through trials, but the officers would have gone there personally to tell them as they would of seen it as a victory and wanted to belittle the mob and their 'codes' if you want.

It is based off a real life story anyway, I'm not sure if that happened in real life or in the book but if it did that will be why it is in the film :p
