Good lord. Classy classy. And Army of Darkness too :).

You've got a broad mix there, no obvious lacks from a genre point of view (altho i'm sure Holden could disagree with that ;)).

I dunno, maybe you could get rid of Alien 3 tho? ;)

Tacitus 06-06-05 08:00 PM

Aye, it is a bit 'Brit Thesps In Space' innit? Director's cut is better though and maybe I'm a bit anal about breaking the quadrilogy. ;)

Yeah, wouldn't mind seeing the director's cut - i'm sure there is a better film lurking in there. Altho i would've loved to have seen that planned version with the wooden planet too. :)

SamsoniteDelilah 06-06-05 08:08 PM

Wow! Nice collection!

Tacitus 06-06-05 08:17 PM

Think I need more comedy though, but I'm a picky sod....

Caitlyn 06-06-05 09:15 PM

Very nice collection... you have several on there I still have to get... and I had to smile when I saw Shaolin Soccer listed... :D

SamsoniteDelilah 06-06-05 09:19 PM

I can recommend two:
The Philadelphia Story
and
There's Something About Mary

Seen 'em, like 'em, don't own 'em (yet).

Who needs to eat eh? :D

susan 06-06-05 10:42 PM

great collection...i've got way too many to list....

Aniko 06-06-05 10:58 PM

you are one interesting fellow. I love the mix you have. I agree with Sammy on The Philadelphia Story and would like to add Bringing up Baby. You need at least one Katharine Hepburn movie.

Oh....and I don't believe I saw one musical...imagine... :p
...you at least need Singing in the Rain or Top Hat or if you like something more current...Chicago.

Epps...forgot you mentioned you felt you might need more comedy...
....take a look a Chaplin's The Gold Rush and City Lights...and the Marx Brothers' A Day at the Races. Just a thought. :)

Strummer521 06-07-05 12:23 AM

What an excellent and wide ranging list. Congrats on having such a good taste. If I was going to add more comedy to my collection (or yours) it would include Old School, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Life Aquatic ( or maybe The Royal Tenenbaums or maybe both), High Fidelity, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Airplane, Naked Gun, Top Secret, maybe Cabin Boy and maybe The Jerk. If you are picky as you say you are you probably disagree with most of my selections but there's my two cents for ya.

Tacitus 06-07-05 06:42 AM

Thanks guys 'n gals...

Caity - Shaolin Soccer's great innit? There's a wonderful innocence about it, or were you just smiling out of pity? :)

Annie - There's a good reason for my lack of Musicals - they bring me out in a rash. I've tried, really I have. Even bought Cabaret once and got dragged along to a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I went to the bar halfway through and got chatted up by a 7 foot tall trannie, every cloud and all that....:indifferent:

Strummer - I've owned a lot of those movies at one time or another, hmmm now you've got me thinking where Airplane's got to. Don't think it was included in the settlement. ;)

Pyro Tramp 06-07-05 10:07 AM

Excellent, see you have a good selection of Asian treats, though no John Woo?
What about The Killer or Hard Boiled?

And Visitor Q, shame on you, sick puppy :p

LOL... no, not out of pity... Besides myself, you're the only other member I remember who has listed Shaolin Soccer as part of their collection... :D

MY DVD's

Gg, the Assembly cut of Alien3 is actually pretty damn good. It features a clear narrative and an entirely different Alien story thread (the dog thread has been removed). The character development is better, and most of the plot-holes are filled. For instance, in the old cut, when the dude got knocked into the giant fan by the alien, a couple of inmates are suspected of killing him, but we are given no motives as to why they would be suspected. It's holes like these that are filled in nicely. Also, a new opening sequence has been added, and it's stellar.

Sedai 06-07-05 12:22 PM

Please add:

12 Monkeys

Mulholland Drive

ermmm I've got Twelve Monkeys on DVD and VHS.

Mulholland Drive? One of those movies that I've been meaning to buy actually, but something always jumps ahead in the queue. :)

Ah, I was going for the numerical title (incorrect) while you had it properly listed under T.... Right, then...Jolly good.
