Umm, good question, i would have to dig in to tell you if there is, but i can say that interstellar has entered my top 3 scifi films of all time.

Out of the Furnace (2013)
Christian Bale is superb in this. A great revenge story. |
Out of the Furnace was an interesting little movie...loved Harrelson and Affleck in that.

I haven't tried to do a proper favourites list in quite some time, but out of my viewings this year, West Side Story and Modern Times could probably find themselves in there. Just peak cinema.
Nice to see some love for West Side Story...actually looking forward to seeing Spielberg's remake. |

I'm gonna watch the original sometime before the remake comes out. I gotta get more Robert Wise under my belt anyway. |

He's a very versatile director, not stuck in just one or two genres. Some of his best work that I've seen and recommend.

Star Trek and Sound of Music are the only two of his movies that I've seen. A few of these are on my to-do list, though: Curse of the Cat People, Body Snatcher, West Side Story, Andromeda Strain and The Haunting. |
Re: Have you recently found another favorite movie?
i'd say that most movies can be rated on a scale of 1-7 out of 10. No, recently the best i've seen is "natural born killers" and that isn't my favorite movie.

Intersteller is great as far as I'm concerned, an 8-10 on a scale of 10, but it's not as good as 2001 space odyssey in my opinion.

I'm not enough of a movie nerd to honestly answer the thread question, but my top two televised thingies are certainly the sopranos and godfather, and i'm not even a big fan of mobster movies in general. Since it's such an overdone trope, there's obviously going to be some really good ones. Casino is also great, but i haven't seen that one in years. Fatal Attraction is another one of my favorites, videodrome, Halloween I and 3, 2001 space odyssey, the original dawn of the dead where they are in that ****ing shopping mall, haha...that one is the supreme B-movie, the fact that it kinda sucks adds to the movie. |

what's the other one? Your tastes in movies seems to have some similarities to mine, but probably not very much.

I'm happy to see so many fans of The Long Goodbye, which is one of my favourites of all time!
Didn't watch many in recent months, but some highlights were the surrealist short film Un Chien Andalou, the horror comedy One Cut of the Dead, Cronenberg's Videodrome and Tobe Hooper's wonderfully bat-**** insane (and very flawed) Lifeforce. |
Re: Have you recently found another favorite movie?
No. New movies suck.

Re: Have you recently found another favorite movie?
Not all new movies suck though. Parasite and The Skin I Live In, I would both put in my my top ten of all time, and they both came out in the 2010s. Unless my taste sucks :).

Sure, but films made after 2020 are the worst. :D |
