Must-see movies
We all have different fave films, but which movies, good and perhaps bad, are 'must see'? I'm not talking about little known gems here, but movies you would think someone was totally film-illiterate if they hadn't seen. Maybe a top 5 or 10 or 50?
Here's a few for starters: The Godfather Star Wars Jaws Schindler's List The Matrix |

Well if I were to give someone a Top 10 must-see list then maybe......
The Godfather Trilogy In my opinion the best movies ever made. Taxi Driver Scorsese's greatest piece of work. De Niro is amazing. Alien Perfect. Absolutely must-see. Apocalypse Now A lot of people I know hate it, but this is a masterpiece. The original is much better than Redux. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Classic 70's film. Star Wars (and sequels) The new Star Wars films can't compare with the original three. Once Upon a Time in the West Best western ever made, Leone is a genius Once Upon a Time in America Did terribly commercially, but the director's cut is outstanding and unmissable. Cool Hand Luke No question Paul Newman's best ever performance. Unforgiven Clint Eastwood at his best, with great performances from Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman, Richard Harris and Jaimz Woolvett. |

I recently made a list like this for my blog. Iro's official Top 10 Must-Sees are...
Battle Royale Clerks A Clockwork Orange Goodfellas The Good the Bad & the Ugly Jaws Monty Python and the Holy Grail Pulp Fiction The Shawshank Redemption This Is Spinal Tap However, that list is more or less intended for my friends. I reckon there are plenty more that I'd recommend but that is for other 16-year-olds so okay. I also recommend The Warriors. But don't get the director's cut, it sucks ass. |
The Searchers
Seven Samurai Vertigo Blade Runner The Usual Suspects |
How about these?
[Edit] Link won't work since it has '*****' in it. Scroll down to "Five Sh!tty Movies That Everyone Loves" |
Here's a list you can relax to over the weekend...
Kill Bill 1&2 The Godfather 1&2 Goodfellas The Star Wars Saga The Matrix Trilogy The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Braveheart Full Metal Jacket The Last Samurai Bladerunner Alien Dune The Big Lebowski Caddyshack Dumb & Dumber |
Bonefied must see movies:
A Clockwork Orange - I could tell you this movie was about government control and explain in detail all the events in the movie but it still would shock you if you saw it. I think this is one of the greatest movies ever made. Metropolis - I can't explain this movie, the story has essentially been torn apart by time, yet its more engrossing then the films that take elements from it or are inspired by it. If you think I, Robot is good cinema then you need a healthy dosage of Metropolis. Chinatown - Phewy, this movie is fantastic. Deep, Deep, characters in the story. I've only seen this once, but I really liked it. Glory - Correctly displays the historical environment of the American Civil War while offering us the most basic of human courage and will. This is the best movie of all time. That's about it. |
My List of "MUST SEE" movies are:
Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Nightmare before Christmas, Wizard of Oz,E.T., Platoon, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, The Color Purple, Psycho, Stand by Me, Amedeus, Fight Club, Clockwork Orange, Donnie Darko, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Girl Interrupted, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Crash, Gattaca, Leon The Professional, Se7en, and Schindler's List.... Mind you with exception to W/Oz, Godfather, and The Matrix they are on own personal faves!!! ooo this looked so much better with pics!! LoL:rotfl: |
There are no must see movies, it's all about the things you are most likely to find interesting.
As for instance, i adore twisted movies so for me "Tetsuo" should be a must-see.. but not for everyone, i have to admit. - - - I would never reccomend "The Pianist", or "Schindler's List" over some of my faves like "Santa Sangre", just because i judge a movie basing on how i liked it, how it was original\interesting.. i never give a damn if people should see this. :P |
