The Two Faces of January (Viggo Mortensen)

Set in Greece and Crete 1962, The Two Faces of January is a solid understated thriller with first class performances. A wealthy couple, Chester and Collette (Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst) attract the attentions of a small-time hustler (Oscar Isaac) who takes a fancy to Chester's wife, and also sees an opportunity for a bit of free-loading as Chester seems to have plenty of money to throw around. What starts off as a fairly slow-paced holiday in the Mediterranean, quickly morphs into something more mysterious when Chester gets an unwelcome visitor. As the plot thickens, all three are drawn into a relationship from which none of them can back down. But with the obligatory net closing in there is just one thing missing; a good enough reason to care about the outcome. Like any decent thriller, viewers will be engaged enough to want to know how everything plays out, but may find themselves less invested in the characters themselves. 6/10

Viggo is always worth watching and your review implies that this film will be no exception to that rule.
