Re: Historical Movies

A Dangerous Method? Seriously? :D O hope you liked it only because of Fassbender :D

Re: Historical Movies

How are we defining "historical"? I mean, is historical accuracy of much import or do any period pieces count?

mark f 08-31-13 05:53 PM

Re: Historical Movies

It appears to be the latter.

Not only. Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightley were good as well and I found the theme to be very interesting. A
movie to me. Really worth giving it a try, especially if you're interested in Freud and Jung psychoanalysis.

One of my all time favourites is Cromwell. Richard Harris is excellent as the title character.

Miss Vicky 08-31-13 06:09 PM

Glory
Gods and Monsters

ETA: Mr. Minio - Since when does pornography qualify as "essential drama"?

You got a problem with Quills?

(But not Caligula, apparently. That's essential.)

Re: Historical Movies

I haven't seen it, but seeing it's your favourite movie I wanted to piss you off. :)

:rotfl:I saw this one coming a mile away!

Miss Vicky 08-31-13 06:42 PM

Re: Historical Movies

Yes, it's my favorite movie. But regardless of what you might think of me, you should consider the fact that it made both the 2010 MoFo Top 100 of All Time and the MoFo Millennium Top 100 lists.

If I recall correctly, even wintertriangles - who almost never sees eye to eye with me on films (or most things, really) - voted for it in the Millennium list.

Mr Minio 08-31-13 06:44 PM

Re: Historical Movies

Why are you even trying to justify your taste? It's all up to you what movies you like. I was just teasing you. :)

Miss Vicky 08-31-13 06:45 PM

Re: Historical Movies

I'm not justifying anything. I'm telling you it's a great movie and that you should watch it.

Mr Minio 08-31-13 06:48 PM

Re: Historical Movies

To me great movies are the ones I like the most, not the ones that appear on some lists, but yeah I see what are you hinting at and maybe I will watch it some time in the future.

Miss Vicky 08-31-13 06:52 PM

Re: Historical Movies

I mentioned the lists only to show that I'm not the only MoFo who appreciates the film. As it's pretty apparent that you and I have dissimilar tastes.

And I do like it the most, which is why it's my favorite and has held that position for at least a dozen years.
