Martin Scorsese, 2019 A beautiful box with nothing inside. Only a handful of authors would be able to make such a movie, the cinematography, the screenplay, the story telling, the details, everything is stop on, that's why I'm not rating it lower, but then what? I'm not a Scorcese Goodfellas, Casino or The Departed, I'm a Scorcese Taxi Driver, New York Stories, or even Silence which I didn't like the point he was trying to make, but I appreciate the courage. One of the actors whose career I have the at most respect, Harvey Keitel was placed there just to be shown in the posters. And what the f*ck did they do to De Niro's face? Jesus Almighty. Anyway, this is purely a commercial movie, a very well made one, but I'm always hoping for something different, with content, I don't think this one had, one thing he definitively had, a lot of political speculation. |

For the most part, it's beautiful to look at but I don't find its attempt at the philosophy that interesting. It's almost like the story (the journey and sparse discussions) is just an excuse to put the images on film. The audio was terrible and (perhaps partly because of that) the acting wasn't too good either. Guess I'll have to be an iconoclast again. -- Especial de Natal: Se Beber, Não Ceie (2018) A Brazilian short film about The Last Supper. Delightfully distasteful parody of Christ and his apostles. There are few weak jokes in its 40 minutes but for the most part, it's laugh-out-loud good. Best comedy I've seen in a long time. Eu discordo fundamentalmente de ambos. Detesto Porta dos Fundos e tudo que vem deles; amo tudo que existe sobre Tarkovsky, Stalker é O meu filme favorito. |

The Godfather: Part II (1974)
Continuing the Corleone saga. It's pretty equal to the first film (half of the film I'm thinking it's slightly worse but the other is the opposite). Lead actors are better on this (Pacino gets better as Michael becomes viler and de Niro is an upgrade from Brando). Coppola could have held back with the festivities again as half of the film seems to take place at some party. Maybe it could have been edited down to three hours even though it went moderately quickly as it is. |

Spaghetti western with a lot of fightin', shootin', killin' and a hell of a good soundtrack. |

My wife and I saw "Knives Out" this afternoon. It was fun. It was not what I expected, but it was very good.
Eight out of ten. :) |

Tim Hunter, 1993 The more I watch this film the more I start to love it. I've reviewed it before, maybe I shouldn't because it's gradually becoming one of my favorite movies of the genera. There are certain things that you don't get the first time you watch, at least I didn't, your initial focus is on the typical stuff: the photography, the story, the social injustices and you miss things you could probably relate to, at least I could. We have Matthew played by Matt Dillon taking photography’s without a camera role, his one of those old New York non-virtuosos, people capable of having a creative expression anyway, anyhow, his very humble, an ingenuous guy in a harsh environment, immensely generous and graceful, is kind to people because he wants to be liked, he wants to belong. His tormented by the possibility he might be crazy, hearing voices extinguished his capability of taking photography’s for magazines. The building he was living was illegally demolish by a big shot and he was thrown to a homeless shelter where he met an old Vietnam vet named Jerry played by Danny Glover, a streetwise guy who took him under his wing. Jerry made him see beyond his incapability’s, both working and dreaming of making it. There are two things I didn’t like, the sounds they’ve chosen for some scenes are just out of place, I’d actually say most sounds, it’s like they’re not synchronized with the scene emotion, but, the main song compensated for the poor selection of the others. Another thing I didn’t like is the good guy, bad guy in the Fort Washington shelter, it was made for commercial purposes, unnecessary and ruined what could be a recognized picture. |
