"It's A Family Thing" - My newest movie!

Hola, peeps! You all know my user name... but know it's time to show you why I call myself that.

A quick history on how I got my job-

Way back in the summer, I got bored. Real bored. Having to have not been able to shoot any movies so far due to my own budget problems, I decided to post a post on filmmaker.com saying that I was a freelance writer who could write scripts and needed the money. Low and behold, I get a reply from two people (none of which are American) - a dude from Australia named something, I forgot. And another dude named David Parsons from Toronto, Canada. To make a long story short, the guy from Australia wants a short, action script. I send it to him via email, he says no, but thanks anyways. (I still have the script. Anyone interested in buying it or using it, email me at [email protected])

So anyways, to make yet another long story short, David gave me the idea for his movie, a mob flick called "It's A Family Thing", which is about an underground crime organization dad that keeps his deadly secret secret until one day he admits it to his wife out of sheer guilt. Little did he know, the Canadian version of the USA's FBI (I don't know what they're called :rotfl: ) had wired tapped into his room, thus recording and hearing the entire conversation. Now with their father in jail and everyone knowing who they are and they're now-known secret, this particular family is now being hunted by a killer assassin and another organized crime family. But hey, all family's have relationship problems. You know, it's a family thing... (Get it?)

Anywho, I'm really excited for my movie. Working with a good budget, I'll be 17 years old and I will be both the writer and director for this film. Production begins in summer 05. So if you're in or around the Toronto area around that time, drop on by and say howdy. We'll show you around.

And when I get some time to re-size the concept art, I'll post them on this thread.

(Oh, and by the way, feel free to flatter my next movie or rip it a new a-hole. Whatever you prefer. Any question, comments, and/or concerns, speak now in this thread or forever hold your peace)

Is that really you in your avatar?

Uh... erm... no...

Now that's what I call off-topic.

sounds cool Movie Maker good luck

I like your idea, it could be a really good movie. However I was just wondering about how you can create it by yourself, I mean you said you were just 17 so I'm guessing you don't have a humongous crew available. What are you planning to do? Just some good friends to help?

Also casting? Sorry for harassing you if you haven't sorted everything out yet, but I'm interested in movie making and was unsure how to get it all together. :)

I know I know…it’s not often we get this far into a thread to find that people are still discussing the actual topic...

Well, David Parsons, the executive producer, is taking care of "All of the above". Like I said, I'm just writing and directing. Which is all we can do because I'm in a suburb of Cleveland and he's in Toronto- not much to do hands on now, is there?

 oh yeah, have you had much directing experience before, I mean as important as this movie, or is this your big break?

Well, I have directed some small things before, and I'm familiar with sets. I was on set and helped shoot an infomercial (ever hear of the Ab Lounge II? Yeah, I helped make that one.) But all in all, this is pretty much my big break, and never have I ever done anything as big as this film.

Any other questions, anyone?

UPDATE!

01-05-05

Good news, bad news

BAD NEWS!

Parsons' told me yesterday that production is probably not going to happen until summer of 06. Oh, poop on a stick...

AND THE GOOD NEWS!

We're now looking at a budget of $1,000,000! :D

Now how's that for an update?!

Uncle Rico 01-09-05 06:04 PM

You never told me about this

MovieMaker5087 01-09-05 06:07 PM

It was never intended for you to know until all was said and done.

Ah, the "casting couch". Not unfamiliar with actors, but so familiar with filmmakers. Here's to a "stroke" of good luck! ;)

How the hell does a 17 year old get a million bucks?

One word (and I'm not associated): porn.

And the dude's 19, not 17. And I'm 16. So I have no idea who you were talking about.

Well there ya go. You're 16 and you say you'll get a million bucks from some guy who has something to do with porn. That's what hard for me to believe.
