Best Denzel Washington Movie

What is the best or your favorite Denzel flick? Mine is Crimson Tide, but I don't expect anyone else to pick that one.

Training Day

no wait!

Philadelphia

Holden Pike 07-31-02 03:53 AM

1. Philadelphia (1993)
2. Devil in a Blue Dress (1995)
3. Mississppi Masala (1991)
4. A Soldier's Story (1984)
5. Much Ado About Nothing (1993)

Definitely, definitely, definitely Much Ado About Nothing. Hands down.

I thought Remember the Titans was pretty good. Although, my personal favorites would have to be either The Hurricane or Fallen, a much too often overlooked Denzel film.

Yoda 07-31-02 09:27 AM

Excellent choice. Fallen would be in the top three of four for me. The ending was a bit of a cop-out, but it made just enough sense (barely) to pass itself off as clever. Very well-acted, too...not just on Denzel's part.

sadesdrk 07-31-02 11:39 AM

I hated that movie. Fallen bites.
I had forgotten Devil in a Blue Dress, I really liked that one too.
1. Philadelphia
2. Training Day
3. Much Ado About Nothing
4. The Hurricane

Remember the Titans was awful.

Yoda 07-31-02 11:40 AM

Zuh? Fallen does not bite. You can't tell me you didn't care about those characters. :nope: The ending left a little to be desired, but I found Washington, his family, and Davidtz very sympathetic and interesting.

sadesdrk 07-31-02 11:54 AM

Naw. It bit the big one.
The only thing it had going for it, was Donald Sutherland. :yup:

Yoda 07-31-02 11:55 AM

No Embeth Davidtz, AKA "Miss Honey"? No John Goodman?

sadesdrk 07-31-02 12:04 PM

:nope:

I'll go ahead and do a top five.

5. Malcolm X
4. Training Day
3. Philadelphia
2. Glory
1. Crimson Tide

And if Glory isn't really a Denzel movie, I'd move 3, 4 and 5 up one and put The Pelican Brief at 5.

Mary Loquacious 07-31-02 02:46 PM

How can Glory not be a Denzel movie? He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, didn't he? :D

That's one of mine, and Malcolm X, Philadelphia, and Much Ado About Nothing. Haven't seen Training Day yet.

Jonny Goodboy 07-31-02 03:44 PM

Crimson Tide all the way for me :yup:

Excellent chemistry between Denzil & Gene throughout.

LordSlaytan 07-31-02 11:12 PM

I totally agree with firegod

firegod 08-01-02 01:37 AM

You mean the whole list? Wow.

Sullivan 08-01-02 03:20 AM

Training Day and Crimson Tide.

Dante 08-15-02 05:31 PM

I have to say:

Training Day
Malcolm X
Devil in a Blue Dress

...because those are the only Denzel Washington movies I've seen. I do think he is a great actor though.

Herod 08-15-02 05:40 PM

Fallen, Much Ado About Nothing, or Malcolm X.

James2183 08-21-02 07:15 PM

remember the titans was a good role but training day was better for him

"my ******" good to see the dark side of the denzel!
