Spring Movies

The films listed below will be released in America during the month given.

March

Dreamcatcher: Morgan Freeman, Thomas Jane. Director Lawrence Kasdan.
This film is set during a hunting trip in the Maine woods where four pals had an alien encounter years earlier and where their about to have another.

Tears of the Sun: Bruce Willis, Monica Bellucci
From the director of Training Day(Antoine Fuqua), this movie is about Navy SEALs dropped into the Nigerian jungle for a search-and rescue mission.

The Hunted: Tommy Lee Jones, Benicio Del Torro
William Friedkin directs this movie of a retired special-ops killing instructor brought in to track down a soldier gone psycho.

Head of State: Chris Rock, Bernie Mac
The star directs this satire in which he plays a D.C. alderman drafted into running for president.

April

Bulletproof Monk: Chow Yun-Fat, Seann William Scott. Director: Paul Hunter.
A Matix/Crouching Tiger rip-off? Lets just say the title is probably the most original thing about this film.

From Justin to Kelly: The Rise of Two American Idols: Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini. Director: Robert Iscove.
The stars claim this movie is "Grease on the beach." Huh?!

Identity: John Cusack, Amanda Peet. Director James Mangold.
10 seemingly unconnected strangers find themselves drawn to a desolate desert motel, where they are slowly preyed upon, one by one.

A Mighty Wind: Christopher Guest, Michael McKean.
Director Chistopher Guest.
Another mockumentary, where Guest and Co. spoof folk musicians, playing three '60's acts who reunite for a tribute concert.

Wow, what an unimpressive list overall, with one major exception.

A Mighty Wind is hopefully going to be more improvised lighting in the bottle for Guest and co., along with now usual suspects Parker Posey, Bob Balaban, Catherine O'Hara, Fred Willard, John Michael Higgins, Michael Hitchcock, Ed Begley Jr., Eugene Levy, McKean & Guest himself of course, old Spinal Tap buddy and "Simpsons" stalwart Harry Shearer is back! Hot damn.

The only others of those with any promise for me is Identity, which could be some slick fun if done well. And you probably should have mentioned for all the fanboys and girls out there that Dreamcatcher is from the Stephen King novel.

But, lots of other movies coming this spring to look forward to, including...
