The Woody Allen Fan Club
Welcome to the Woody Allen Fan Club!
http://cache23.fansshare.com/photos/...1006829812.jpg Current Members: Cobpyth (President) donniedarko Gideon58 Mark F Skepsis93 I'm basically making this thread because I'm planning on finally finishing his filmography (I only have three films of his left that I need to watch + his newest one) and then I also want to rewatch a few of my favorites (I just recently rewatched The Purple Rose of Caïro with my youngest sister), so I can make my official "Top 10 Favorite Woody Allen films". I thought this would be a good place to do that, instead of making a seperate thread for it. You're all welcome to join this Fan Club of course (like with all the other ones). ;) |
Re: The Woody Allen Fan Club
I never joined one, but this seems worthy.

Is it too late to join this club and are you allowed to be a member even if you don't think Annie Hall is a masterpiece?
|
Re: The Woody Allen Fan Club
Yes. I'll join too. When Sarah gets back from work, Ill see if she wants to "join". :highfive:

Re: The Woody Allen Fan Club
Yet to explore much of him. I like Annie Hall, Midnight in Paris and Crimes and Misdemeanors. Wasn't really a fan of Blue Jasmine. The Purple Rose of Cairo, Manhattan and Stardust Memories all look very interesting off the top of my head. I'll use this thread more once I get round to watching more of his films.

Re: The Woody Allen Fan Club
Have you seen The Front Cob? Woody's an actor in it, and while it has flaws in its story telling and I think pace it certianly has a charm of its own, especially the last five minutes.
And here's a genius post I forgot I wrote - which I found while looking for my review of The Front- made during some Guap "Ignore list" drama

Suddenly they're on every moderators ignore lists, and their film reviews are no longer seen. On the other hand small time MoFo, donniedarko is struggling to get by, earning bare minimum rep by day, begging for rep like JayDee. But unlike the "ignore listed" four- Mark F, Daniel M, Harry Lime, and bluedeed- donniedarko posts are still allowed to be seen. So the 4 blacklisted MoFos ask donnie to write their posts for them, acting as a front. Suddenly donnie is making 5 movie tab posts a day, sending in 4 70s lists, and becoming loaded on rep, and website reputation. But donnie is no professional writer- just look at his listed occupation- will all the rep and inside trade of Guaporense run MoFo get to Donnie's head? Will the full ignore list be revealed (better wait for the credits)? ELLIGIBLE for the 70s list |

I wrote my dissertation on the man and his films' relationship to New York, if anyone has any interest in reading I'd be happy to upload it.

So what's the benefit of joining the club?
Regardless, here's my list of top ten favorite Woody Allen movies, and the last couple could be replaced with any number of other films. 1. Manhattan 2. Midnight in Paris 3. Crimes and Misdemeanors 4. Hannah and Her Sisters 5. Zelig 6. Annie Hall 7. Bullets Over Broadway 8. Take the Money and Run 9. Sleeper 10. Radio Days Some of his stranger movies which I happen to love, even if they aren't for everyone, are What's Up, Tiger Lily? and Shadows and Fog. |
Re: The Woody Allen Fan Club
Any of you guys seen Irrational Man yet?
Funny Face and I are planning to go see it on Sunday. It'll be my third Allen. I liked Blue Jasmine well enough but wasn't crazy about Bullets Over Broadway. I haven't seen any ratings or reviews for IM on here yet, I'm hoping it will be good. |

You guys all need to go see Irrational Man. It's excellent!

Would recommend Radio Days to those that haven't seen it, saw it myself pretty recently and was pleasantly surprised by it. Definitely one of Allen's most cinematic pictures, it's basically his Amarcord
