Post a Random Fact About Yourself

I turn off my heat and permanently close my heating vents in my bedroom, as I sleep much easier when it's freezing cold (under 55 F).. When I do wake up, I turn the heat on to about 72, and after an hour or so, I just use the space heater.

WrinkledMind 12-11-20 06:26 PM

I can't sleep in a room with sharp objects. It could be something as small as a pin or needle. But all of them need to packed up in their boxes, and those boxes need to be in the cupboards.

Yes, I have OCD and I have quite a few other quirks, as well.

I cannot sleep in a room with the heat on. And there must be a window nearby that is open a few inches.

Good thread: I like it.

I actually cover my windows with aluminum tin foil to block out the sun.

I also need "white noise".. Usually the fan setting from my window air-conditioning unit.

The NBA game has gone downhill for 30 years. Less about basketball and more about... shoes, twitter, and other garbage. .I tried college, but the 40 second shot clock is too much, and every year, there's an entire new team and it's hard to keep up.

15 years ago, about 25 of us (in another forum) met up in Toronto.. It was bittersweet, because the guy who had the idea (and organized it), died just four days before the event, but his wife came, and we met before the Roger Waters concert, and after.. One of the members was even nice enough to think of us Americans who weren't going to smuggle pot across the border.

It would be great if we had a chat room. We do have one occasionally, but its for The Oscars, and I'm clueless about it, and realize that even though I attend every time, I'm probably a waste of space :)

Fact about me: Never learned to drive & never had a desire to do so.

Any bit of light would wake me up. I use noise because I've used a fan, etc., for so many years, and a change would ruin things. But most importantly, it's to block out the noise from the neighbors (their cars, dogs, etc).

I haven't driven in almost a year. My car is not worth fixing, and I absolutely hate driving. And now I have my groceries delivered to me, and haven't left my yard in almost a month.

Especially the HIGH pitch from the smaller dogs. And going on for hours. The great thing about the cold is that I hear less. For the last month or two, the minute I heard a bark, I'd play my drums, hoping to condition those criminals next door. We don't even have noise control, animal control. The US will never make sense to me.

My Spanish neighbors love these little dogs that bark constantly. How do they live with dogs like this? Our neighborhood is quieter too in the winter as these same neighbors prefer the indoors.

We do have animal noise control in America. You can find the rules for your state online. You’d be surprised how strict they are & you can call the police.

I've called the police 5 times this year. They never show up. They're worthless. But when you don't want them around, or if you are following the law, they come to your house and ask why you're doing your job and playing drums, because the burglarizing neighbors didn't like me reporting a burglary (because they did it, and the son had a warrant out). The police told me "We only come out for ACTIVE burglaries" so then I lost it and asked "If someone was stealing my ****, do you think I'd be on the phone with you, watching them? Excuse me, let me move out of the way. Enjoy the guitars!"

No kidding. You must be the only person in California who doesn’t drive.

Highly unusual in Connecticut not to drive. People are flabbergasted that I walk everywhere. Random people introduce themselves to me telling me they’ve seen me all over town. Made some good friends this way.

I haven't been to one in decades, but when I was young they were wonderous places!
That sound of breaking pins in the background was somehow magical, and there were usually pin-ball machines & video games - like an arcade with the sound of rolling balls and strikes in the background. Sometimes there'd be music or even a live band. At the one near me there was a bar (that was a spooky area when I was a kid): kinda dark and there were some characters who came just to sit at the bar and never bowled.

Basically, a giant indoor playground.

I sat next to the hottest girl in my high school for a full year (I forget what class) and never said a thing to her because I was terribly shy around girls.

EsmagaSapos 06-22-21 06:15 AM

  • Never been drunk;
  • Never had a female as a friend, my sister doesn't count, literally;
  • Just had one real friend and he was family, but my other friends think differently;
  • Never visited anything further than 150km radius, just like the Hobbitses;
  • Never camped anywhere, never hiked, but want to;
  • Don't recall staying one single day without anyone around me, but want to;
  • Never had any hobby I was passionate about;
  • Never really did anything I didn't want to do-
  • Also never did the things I wanted to do as well;
  • Can count with one hand the number of books I've read, they bore me.
I don't know, I'm not interesting, is hard to write anything about me, if there's anything I could relate would be those filthy Hobbitses, I like the peace and quiet, and the trees, and flowers, and rivers, and the birds singing, and the sunset, and the rain, and the seasons, it's simple, but even they get drunk, go figure.

My problem is there are so many weird, dispossessed, mentally ill, pugnacious, troublesome people around (male & female) that one’s “patience & empathy” is spread rather thin. I just can’t see giving money to people who use it either to snort whatever or put it in a vein.

I financially support 7 (might be 8) animal shelters/sanctuaries each month & I know my money makes a huge difference for those who care for animals in need.

Excuse the ramble/digression.

I see it differently. My father once told me a story about a man in Espinho which he given money to. It might have been in the seventies, maybe eighties. The man asked him for money and he replied: It's for food? The man promptly said: Yes, yes. An hour later my father was walking near the beach and heard a man singing very loudly near the sea. He went to look closer and saw it was the man he had given money to buy food earlier. He had spent it on a bottle of wine. My father said to himself: I'll never give money to no one. My father felt cheated, but now, knowing my father a little better, I understand he was just jealous that man was having a good time without a care in the world because of the money he given him. If you go to a tavern in a small village there's always the town drunk, that doesn't work, and everyone gives a coin to get him drunk, that man is a reminder of someone's whose free at his own standards, that's why people give one coin to support a dream, I know you reading this will think this is just silly, specially if you're a woman, but it is what it is.

I've given money to people I knew were going to spent it on alcohol, even heroin in some cases. You might think I was supporting an addiction but I know, from personal experience I was just helping some old lady who would get a broken arm from a purse robbery, or a man waking up at night with someone in his kitchen trying to defend his possessions and get stabbed and bleeding to death. Criminality, world wide is created by inequality, this have been proven, it's not poverty, or misery, it's inequality in a community. If you don't give to people who don't have something to lose, they'll take it, and might even take what's more precious to you, that's nature. Throwing money to those individuals won't solve a thing, but future oriented, for a smart person, it's the thing to do.

In my case I'd give that man money for two bottles and not just one, since I don't have the guts to join him.

I love cloudy days, and especially rain and thunderstorms (all happening right now) very early.. 2pm here. I love that it's so dark. It's so calming...The noise pollution (barking dogs and neighbors) goes away.. I had a trip on Friday, just sitting on my porch off and on til 7am (which is when I usually wake up if I sleep in). I can't stand sunshine..

I'm not getting the vaccine. What happens when more and more side effects come about months from now? I have no one but myself who will take care of me, so I'm not changing a damn thing.

I don't think I have, either. It's too bad, because I like everything to have a zipper, so my important stuff doesn't fall out.

Fun Fact !

I once pissed myself when a zipper decided to break. Yes, it was beer night.

It’s totally doable. Repaired more than one myself.
