Here’s the Monarch Sciences website for some viral marketing...
http://www.monarchsciences.com ... but if you’re like me and are too lazy, here’s a rundown of the stuff on it: https://screenrant.com/godzilla-2-mo...-every-secret/ Cool tidbits: Mothra is the basis for angels, Rodan’s been asleep inside a volcano and King Ghidorah is a living thunderstorm. Oh, and this movie has a pretty impressive cast of disposable humans - Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins are back, Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga as Eleven’s parents, Bradley Whitford, Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch and Ziyi Zhang. |

Yep. Godzilla (2014) was boring. Camera cuts when the action gets started and all... Skull Island was a vast improvement... funny, exciting, actually made you care... This looks like they've taken a lesson from recent blockbusters and combined the spectacle with the monsters they're trying to portray. Kudos to them, because the trailer looks awesome. |
I hope Charles Dance is there for the sole purpose of delivering that line. He just appears at that opportune moment and then leaves immediately.

Noooooo! Charles Dance is, next to McKellen and Stewart, the God of Shakespearean-turned-to-film. Dude is, like, a Leg End. I hope he plays, like, 3/4 of the movie. |
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
I'm pretty impressed by how "fresh" this managed to feel given how many of these we've had lately.

He’s the authority figure who can’t abide by this hippie nonsense of letting nature sort itself out.
Send the nukes! Vera Farmiga goes monster crazy? |
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
This looks great, but they always do. I just can't put myself through it again. Not gonna get excited. The Netflix anime is a prime example. Looks great, but so f'in hard to watch.

Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
That. Looks. Beautiful. And loveeeeee Vera Farmiga, great casting. Really enjoyed the first film so looking forwards to this sequel a lot.
|
Eh.....
The broken family as a metaphor for the Monster universe is a bit on the nose. I also don't like that we don't have a villain or the concept seems a bit flimsy. This could be a huge step backwards from the Godzilla and Kong Skull Island films that I enjoyed. The big advantage the film has is that the CGI looks top notch, and it certainly looks better than the other trailers that came out of Comic Con. |
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
Is Kong in this?.
|
Love Godzilla the monster but didn't like Skull Island and this looks crap too.

I suppose I'll have to look this at some point. Monsters looked great and it has Millie so maybe, please, it isn't bad.

Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
Looks alright, I guess. How anyone could even get a little excited for one of these tho is beyond me. They have been making these things twice as long as most of you have been alive. There is going to be absolutely nothing new here. Mothra is what? Almost 80 years old now? There will not be a shred of new ground here people.

That'll be the next movie Godzilla v Kong. |

Skull Island was pretty good but I think this series is marred at the moment by how cack Godzilla (2014) was. They need to pull something new out of the bag or the next movies will bomb. |

I liked some of the characters in Skull Island but the story was just plain stupid. What on earth could they pull out of the bag though? This will be a mish-mash of about three different Godzilla movies from the 60's, just based on the trailer I saw. So yeah, I bet it will probably bomb. |
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
I'm definetely gonna watch it! Godzilla is one of my favourite movie-monsters :)
|
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
Holy poop, that was freaking beautiful.
The concept of a "trailer" was made in order to sell you something... but in all honestly, what they're selling looks incredible. Sorry *shrugs* I'm really happy they're digging up the kaijus and experimenting with them on the silver-screen. Would literally pee myself a little if Destoroyah appeared after the credits. |
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
I don't think it matters. Godzilla is so beloved and as mentioned, has had so many movies made since the 50's. Hell, I think there was a made-for-tv Gojira in the 80's. This will be a success. Then we will have a Transformers crossover.

Secondly, those aren't even the same studios, and plus! (Hope they get rid that hack director though.) |
Doesn't really matter anyway. None of this matters. Time is in illusion; a concept made up by human perception.

Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
Well I guess it's the norm now for rubbish movies to inspire sequels and we all just have to accept that.. and is that Ellen Page clone.. trailer doesn't interest me at all.. I would rather see a sequel to 1998's Godzilla than whatever this anime is

Anyways, I liked the trailer. That shot of Mothra in the water....beautiful. |

I know who you mean now, I watched half the first season until I realised it was some kind of soap opera and decided to watch Taboo instead. so we have two Ellen Pages now, that's great. |

I thought she looked like Portman. |

Meh. The trailer seems to describe the same plot of the first movie.

Holly mother of god, those are some huge monsters we re gonna see

7/10.
The visuals were good, however I watched it on DVD - if I had watched it in the theatre, I might have appreciated them more. Overall, I thought it was just more of the same: same story, cooler monsters (I thought Gidorah was particularly cool).
WARNING: "ally" spoilers below
Oh, and this time one of the monsters (Mothra) is on Godzilla's side. I thought there were too many moments when Godzilla saved someone just in the nick of time.
I'm looking forward to Godzilla v. King Kong, if it ever happens. |
Re: Godzilla: King of Monsters
I actually really liked/enjoyed this movie... so much fun. Yes it has flaws and like the original, those flaws were with its characters, but overall this was so damn entertaining. A solid 7/10.
|
Found it quite enjoyable. For me, sequels are usually a let down so it was a pleasant surprise this time around.
