It's just a bit weird considering how much fans have been clamouring for Miles Morales yet they've once again gone with Peter Parker. It's especially egregious considering how the new Johnny Storm is going to be played by Michael B. Jordan, after all.

Because while Miles is very popular in the comic world, the general public knows only of Peter Parker. And Sony made that call for the Fantastic 4 and not Marvel Studios. It is a profit thing.

That is a good point - even so, if the general public can accept and appreciate relatively obscure property like Guardians of the Galaxy then I don't see what'd be so difficult about the introduction of a new Spider-Man. If anything, the fact that they've rebooted Spider-Man twice in less than a decade isn't a move that seems to inspire much confidence, but then again I'm not the most in touch with what comic-book fans or the general public wants.

They should get the other Tom Holland (Class of 1984, Fright Night, Child's Play, Psycho II) to pen the script. ;)

It's about damn time they announced who it is.

Haven't seen this kid in anything so I have no way of knowing if he's gonna be good or not. Guess Marvel likes him, and I'm saying this because you know Sony is Marvel's bitch right now, no matter what anybody says Sony is gonna want to listen to Marvel if they know what's good for them.

I've lost all interest in spiderman movies. they're going to need a really interesting villain to get my interest.
If they had carnage i would definitely be excited. But that won't happen because spiderman needs to be kept suitable for parents to bring their little kids.

True, but no one knew who the Guardians of the Galaxy were before that movie. Everyone knew who Spider Man was. Though I say you do have a point in that this is the third reboot for Spidey in what? 15 years? A new take on Spidey would be cool. Maybe there is still hope.
