MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Obviously we need a thread. Here it is. Yay.

When your starting running backs are Jeremy Hill and Frank Gore week 1 it's going to be a long year. Also when your first rounder holds out.

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

I think picking Brady and Gronk was the best decision I ever made. If they suck it equals AWESOME cause NE fans are douche bags ;).

If they do well then at least I get points it also equals AWESOME. I cant lose.

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Lose my QB1 and WR2, opponent gains RB1 in Conner who's got 26 points already. Oof.

Got a feeling it could be a long year.

How did you lose your QB1 when he's never been back?

Yoda 09-09-18 04:32 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Seems like semantics; preseason indications were that he'd probably be ready. Return timeline stagnated right around the time of our draft, IIRC.

Not saying it was a good pick (though the main reason it was bad was roster composition, which I didn't adjust properly with the new draft order).

Nobody, I think. Nobody wants him to turn into a pumpkin on them and start rotting on their roster's front porch in November.

Hope that Conner kid stays healthy. Bell's not gonna have a job to come back to if he does. WOW, just watched what Jack Doyle did. Fumbles and the Bungles run it back to the house. I'mma cut his ass.

The last few minutes of your game has been pretty, uh... exciting, eh Chris?

What kind of bogus bs is CBS doing. Teasing me with the Pittsburg game going into OT then saying nah too bad. And what kind of lame crap coin toss was that???

I stopped watching most of most Steeler games a few years ago. I saw some of it on GameChannel. Yeah, not great, Bob.

Definitely in line with the pregame prediction of "Steelers probably win but it'll be closer than it should," though.

Watching the announcers watching the game and play calling and not actually seeing the game is about the lamest thing I have ever seen.

Funny you mention that. I was about to come in here again and hype up the redzone channel which I've been watching for years now. I'm actually trying to watch the whole Seahawks game today because its been at least 2 years since I sat through a whole game as well.

I would say I am happy with the tie, but it doesn't feel that way.

ANyway looking good in the FF arena for the day thus far. That Saints game was wild.

Yoda 09-09-18 06:07 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Steelers tie Browns. Tons of turnovers, Steelers missed an OT field goal to win it, but also blocked an attempt from the Browns near the end.

I find it impossible to get too excited (happily or angrily) about anything Steeler-related these days. The Bell holdout probably wrecks their chances, and they'll probably close this championship window without ever getting to make a run with all their stars in tact. Pretty lame, but so it goes.

If I were still a big fan, I'd probably write this one off anyway, since since there's a torrential downpour in Cleveland (and here; I can't believe it's still coming down!).

Yoda 09-09-18 06:08 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Fantasy-wise, team gettin' whomped, but that's expected. Probably going to have ended up playing the week's top scorer, anyway.

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

I don't think I can ever stop watching the Steelers games. I really would love to see them in person at a home game. Seen them on road games in a few places over the years, but really want to experience Heinz Field and all the terrible towels on home turf. I do understand the apathetic stance though as I cannot say during different years I have not felt that way at some point, but then kickoff happens again :).

Sedai 09-10-18 11:35 AM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Dang. Week one and my team has already been through a minefield. Multiple injuries on the team already and what appears to be a bust at RB2. Jimmy G roughed up my a brutal MIN defense, but that was to be expected. Hopefully he plays better moving forward. WR1 dials in a goose egg... yikes. I have the depth to absorb most of this and head into week 2 on mostly fresh legs...

That said, I think I might win the week, as my opponent also took some tough shots. It's my WR3 against he defense tonight.

Let's go Rams!

I get into the games while watching them, I just watch them much less frequently. I'll get excited if and when they're in the playoffs, but the edge was taken off after that second Super Bowl. But I am kinda shaking my head already at the thought of these three star players never making a Super Bowl together.

Still haven't been to an NFL or even college game; just a high school game when I was much younger. I might finally give it a go this year or next, though, since I've been informally resolving to do more stuff in general. Seems like it'd be a fun experience, even if (especially if?) you're not crazily invested in the outcome.

I won with my starting running backs Frank Gore and Ty Montgomery! What a challenge this is!

Yoda 09-17-18 02:54 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

If you just look at your own lineup it seems ridiculous, but then you look around and you see that a whole lotta teams are starting some really iffy backs because that's just football now, and at least a few of them are gonna do well.

Captain Spaulding 09-17-18 06:14 PM

Dropped Mason Crosby for Jake Elliot thirty minutes prior to kickoff. Elliot scored 3 pts. Crosby scored 19. I'm projected to lose by 7.

Wasn't there some word about getting rid of kickers? :p

Every year for the last few years. But we usually get a couple people against the idea, and I think it's a big enough change that it should be pretty close to unanimous.

I'm definitely for scrapping them, though, even though I'm pretty sure it helps me slightly that we have them, if only because I never waste an earlier pick on them and usually end up with an average-or-better one anyway.

Yoda 09-17-18 06:21 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

I don't think Yahoo allows for it but one cool idea is to combine kicker with Defense, since Defense already incorporates some of Special Teams.

7thson 09-17-18 08:34 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

As far as kickers go I am kind of on the fence, but would be happy to go with the consensus. It does seem to lend more advantage to "luck" than to skill. Maybe a point reduction like 1 point per score no matter if its a 55 yard field goal or an extra point. Not sure - anyway we all start off with the same lineup so I am cool with not having them if that's how it winds up one day.

7thson 09-17-18 10:06 PM

Think I will change my team name to "3 n out".

What a completely dismal offensive (and offensive) game for the skyrats.

Powdered Water 09-22-18 02:47 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

If I don't have a full compliment of players this week; it's not because I'm overly confident and think I don't need to run all my guys out there. If I could win with red boxes then I'd be in great shape tho! I got LOTS of those. sheesh... And isn't it lovely how when a couple of your guys go down late in the week and the team your playing that week just happens to have all the players that may take their places? Yeah, I think that's grand. :nope:

Wow, three games and we already have no undefeated teams and just one winless one, and the winless one is 9th at scoring and mostly just got some badly timed opponents. Lot of parity this year.

I'm tired of getting my dick stepped on week after week. I'm willing to talk trades if there is anybody on my roster you are interested in. I think most of my rbs have underperformed, but I have faith in all of them except for Jamaal Williams after week 3.

Sent you a proposal, I’m willing trade another receiver instead of Thomas. But I like the structure of 2 RBs for 1 WR/TE and 1 RB. Let me know if there’s another combo that would interest you.

jiraffejustin 09-27-18 06:19 PM

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

I value Mixon as a legit top-end RB1, so I'd have to get Hopkins to part ways with him. I don't care for Penny at all, and Thomas I'm weary on because of how poor he's looked so far. I'd be down for a 1 to 1 Hopkins for Mixon if you were interested, we could wait until next week when he'll probably be back if you want. As far as the two for two, I would maybe counter with Mixon, Lindsay, and your choice of Fitz or Russell for Hopkins, Cam, and Burton

You've just gotten bad schedule luck. You've put up good scores every week.

Technically, you had the fifth-highest points total going into this week, but you were only like two points behind the guy in third.

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Offered a trade to Beantown Champs on Sunday for Jimmy Graham since he already has Ertz and I just lost Eifert for the season (although I was hoping to upgrade at the position even before the injury). Three days later and still no reply, which seems to be a recurring problem in this league. Don't people get e-mail notifications? Accept, reject or make a counter offer.

Although I am playing him this week, so maybe that's why he hasn't responded. I doubt it, though.

I'm not on Facebook, so that does me no good. It's just frustrating to never get responses on some of these trade offers. It happens in all my leagues, though, to some degree. At least when they're an active member on here, I can just shoot them a PM.

I was on vacation last week, and was barely active on anything, really.

Update: he did not break 200, but if you adjust to full PPR (which was what we had in 2009 when PW set the record), TONGO's score is, in fact, higher. So, adjusted for settings, that's probably the best week in league history.

Crazier still: he got zero from Sammy Watkins (not hurt, just one target, no catches) and somehow still put up that insane total. He could've had another 12 from Frank Gore, who was on the bench.

Other than Watkins he had six skill players (RB/WR/TE), and all of them scored over 20 points. He only got 7 from his defense, too! That's pretty average, but it's really weird to see a total this high without the defense scoring a couple defensive TDs and throwing up 20 themselves, nevermind combined with a goose egg at another position.

Wild stuff.

Re: MoFo Fantasy Football 2018 - The Regular Season

Fantasy sports--football, in particular--makes way more sense when you start viewing all your choices as a series of probabilities. When you think "this guy has a 66% chance of scoring more points than this guy," and just expect to be wrong a third of the time and wait for it to even out, it gets (slightly) less maddening and random-seeming.

It's just like poker, getting your money in with the best hand. You'll still lose. You'll still lose regularly. You just won't usually lose.

I agree. It's been hard to field a team.

Ajayi out for the year after Sunday. Even he doesn't seem to know exactly when he tore his ACL. Yowza! I mean... wtf?

Having more or less total blanks at skill positions is definitely a more common thing now than it was even three years ago, it seems.

Me: "I'm gonna sit Jeffrey because I have lots of good options, and I think he'll be TD dependent."

*Jeffrey scores two TDs*

Me: "Well...technically I was right."

question: considering you are all in a fantasy football league, do you like the show The League(2009)

I thought it was pretty good. Occasionally more vulgar than funny, but often both. Lots of really funny people involved that I'm pretty sure were improvising a lot of it, too. I think I liked it more as it went on, as well. Too gimmicky in the early seasons.

I've been playing fantasy football for a long time, and I don't think I've ever had a defense get me as many points as Denver did tonight.

Yikes... the Sony Michel injury looked really bad. May have just lost another player for the year. In the first quarter. I may be whining a little bit here, but my ratio of guys that I have lost for the year in the first half of games is by far the highest in this league. I have no evidence whatsoever to back up this claim. I just know its true.

Looking to move a receiver for an RB. I've got three #1 wideouts in Jeffrey, Sanders, and Brown. Not totally averse to moving Brown but obviously the ask is bigger.

Sanders is #3 among receivers this year, and Jeffrey would be #4 if you prorate the games he missed to start the year, just in case people don't realize how ridiculous they've both been.
