Blood Simple vs Body Heat

Two heavyweights of the neo noir genre. Which do you prefer?

I didn't really care for Body Heat. I did love Blood Simple though.

I think I am going to go for Blood Simple, but I would have to see it again, as I remember the whole plot to Body Heat but not Blood Simple.

Crazy close call for me. I think I'll give the slight edge to Body Heat.

I guess Blood Simple because it feels more original, where as Body Heat is good, but feels very heavily influenced by Double Indemnity, so it will always have that to compare to.

Both fine films, IMO. Only 3 years apart, there are similarities but mostly differences. Both have double cross, but "Simple" is quirkier, whereas "Heat" has palpable physical atmosphere.

Great actors in both. Re "Simple", M. Emmett Walsh can play an intimidating low down bad guy as good as anyone ever could. In "Heat" there are William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Richard Crenna, and Mickey Rourke. Couldn't get a better cast, even though Hurt and Turner were really just getting noticed.
