i watched this movie and it was great, maybe for someone that was slow boring movie, but for me it was like seeing someone's real life, not required what every scene should be amazing and unexpected in film.

If you are looking for a coming of age story i cant recommend the Apu Trilogy by Satyajit Ray enough!

I think the closest thing you'll find is the same director's trilogy of Before Sunset, Before Sunrise & Before Midnight.

The Brits beat Linklater to the punch by decades but no one knows about it...

Yeah and we have something here in Denmark called The Young Mothers which follows children until they turn 18...

But as far as I know Linklater is the first to record footage spanning 12 years and wait until 12 years later and put it in one single motion picture with a running time of less than 3 hours.

The 7 Up Series looks really good. I'll probably take a look! I loved Boyhood.

And that is important to this particular reply of mine, how?

I'm just stating that we know Boyhood isn't the first to use the idea in general, but perhaps the first to do it in a single motion picture.
