Yeah, either that or calling them the "best" when nobody (or maybe just critics) has seen them yet is a tall order. It's pretty damning that the one of those I'm most interested in watching is the DTV Mortal Kombat cartoon (and that's following an underwhelming live-action one).

As an aspiring young cinephile (assuming your age based off your list), what are some of your favorite films outside of this year?

i will certainly watch saints of newark, maybe in theatres, but everything else on the list seems un-appealing

hi everyone. with this corona pandemic we are able to go to the theaters and we are watching movies in the comfot of our homes. A friend of mine introduced me to a free subscription of NETFLIX For a complete year. im already in. i will bring the link tomorrow. cool

The only two on your list I've seen are Jolt and Joe Bell. Jolt was kind of fun but Joe Bell, considering the importance of the subject matter, was a disappointment.

Just recently did a look through at upcoming releases so I can plan weekend trips to the theaters. The following definitely have my attention:

1. CODA (playing in Frederick, aim to go next weekend)
2. Reminiscence (too lazy to check spelling. Seeing this tomorrow)
3. The Protege (Maggie Q. What? She looks good)
4. Free Guy
5. The Night House.
6. Respect
7. Candyman (remakes are hit or miss, obvi)
8. Malignant (and all the Wan detractors just have a giant groan)
8. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
9. Titane (2021 Palme d’Or winner)
10. Halloween Kills
11. The Last Duel
12. DUNE!!!!
13. THE FRENCH DISPATCH!!!!
14. Antlers. (This looks spooky)
15. Last Night in Soho (ditto as above, plus two up and coming actresses who I enjoy)
16. Ghostbusters: Afterlife. (Nostalgia)
17. Belfast
18. Encanto
19. House of Gucci
20. Nightmare Alley
21. West Side Story
22. The Eternals

Plus any random films from other countries I did not see listed. Canada’s Night Raiders was screened at the Berlin Film Festival, for example, and instantly grabbed my attention. Sci-fi dystopian? Sure.
