Coolest Opening Credits sequence?

What is the coolest opening credits sequence in your opinion? Mine is Se7en. It is perfect in my opinion. I hate opening credits on black screens, or meaningless backgrounds. I like when the credits roll on something that actually has a feel to it, something you actually want to be looking at, but has meaning with the movie as well.

Whats your fav?

Casino (1995), The Age of Innocence (1993) and Cape Fear (1991) are three of my all-time favorites. Not only are they all Scorsese movies of course, but the credit sequences were designed by the great Saul Bass (with his wife Elaine).

Some of Saul Bass' earlier classic work includes the opening credit sequences for North by Northwest, Vertigo, Psycho, Anatomy of a Murder, Spartacus, and Exodus.

Are we talking about an opening followed by credits, or more the way in which the credits are displayed? If it's the latter, I think Hollow Man's method was remarkably cool.

Se7en.....................definitely Se7en for me! :yup:

Holden Pike 02-24-02 06:54 PM

Not the pre-credits sequence, Commish, the actual credits themselves.

Yoda 02-24-02 06:57 PM

Well, then, as I said, certainly Hollow Man would make my list. I thought the silent-filmesque credits in O Brother, Where Art Thou? were nice, too...though I find myself admiring credits quite rarely.

I'm in agreement with Chris on Hollow Man and O Brother, Where Art Thou?.

Also have to say that Se7en got my attention as did Fight Club.

Also...
Final Destination
Hannibal
Anti Trust
Snatch

Best Meaningless OC: Wild Wild West (never mind the rest of the film!)
Best Music Video OC: The World is Not Enough
"Best"* OC: The Musketeer

*It's not opposite day.

Karl Childers 02-24-02 08:50 PM

Snatch. Definitely.

Very entertaining.

spudracer 02-24-02 09:55 PM

Oh yeah, Snatch!

Superman: The Movie
Memento

Glam X Beatle 02-24-02 10:11 PM

Gasp! I just got that movie because I saw Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels... and my friend said there was a sequel, but he forgot the name, then I went to the store, and said "where's that sequel to Lock Stock?" and they actually sold it to me without telling me it wasn't. But I haven't brought it back because I'm too lazy... That was two weeks ago and I still haven't watched that...

spudracer 02-24-02 10:14 PM

So you DO know that Snatch is NOT a sequel to Lock, Stock right???

Just have to make sure on that one.

Batman is another good opening sequence movie. :D

Glam X Beatle 02-24-02 10:29 PM

The cases just look very similar, that's all, and they're by the same guy (...Richie, hehe)? That's all I know.

spudracer 02-24-02 10:32 PM

Cover's look a little a like, not really though.

Both are by Ritchie, but I believe the only person that stars in both is Vinnie Jones. :)

Coolest Opening Credit Sequence

Frist off, I just want to let you know that I hate this film

The opening sequence to Blair Witch 2 is pretty cool.
The cmaera going over the woods with Dispossable Teens playing... phat.

spudracer 02-25-02 09:44 AM

Yeah, I was tappin my foot to that, but couldn't understand why a good opening sequence went with a terrible movie. :D

L .B . Jeffries 02-25-02 12:51 PM

* Once Upon a Time in the West
* Kiss Me Deadly

Pablo Ferro

*Bullitt
*Dr.Strangelove
*Darkman
*Devil in a Blue Dress

mecurdius 02-25-02 09:13 PM

Snatch and The Matrix, also i really like mememto. I have a question about batman returns, it the opening credits with Pee-Wee herman and the penguin?

mightymose 02-25-02 10:18 PM

Definitely have to give it up for Se7en...

I am pretty sure I am wrong on this one... I think the credits roll before or after, but I have to mention just in case...

Patton, with George C Scott in front of the flag... gives me goosebumps... but like I said, I think I'm wrong... Ruling Holden?

The Silver Bullet 02-26-02 12:41 AM

Snatch.
It is a great opening sequence.
"It's a nice story, Adam and Eve, but that's all it is -- a story."

I had to sya I found the opening credits to Rat Race mildly amusing. I like the opening credits to Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. And finally, although they weren't really credits, the opening sequence to Moulin Rouge with Satie conducting the Orchestra.
