Criterion Fantasies
Criterion Fantasies
What movies do you wish to see released on CRITERION? |
Re: Criterion Fantasies
Fantastic Planet, for one.
|
Re: Criterion Fantasies
The PTA catalog.
|
Re: Criterion Fantasies
The Room and Plan 9 from Outer Space. I'm sick of sh*t pretentious films getting criterions. These two really need one instead.

Re: Criterion Fantasies
Allegro Non Troppo
Nothing else comes to mind. |

Super mega extreme bump turbo edition.
I was just thinking abut this, and wanted to make a list. Sue me. Adaptation- There's no special features on the standard release. This is not acceptable. L'enfant-There's already a lot of Dardenne in the collection, and this is my favorite of them all, so why not? The Tree of Life-Another filmmaker who already has a ton in the collection. But, there's room for more. Also has a disappointing array of features on the standard release. A Serious Man-One of the Coen's most under appreciated films. Two releases is not enough for these guys. Spring Breakers- I would love some Korine in the collection. The Virgin Suicides- There's no proper blu ray release here in the U.S, so this would be lovely. After Hours-See above. Jackie Brown-They could do so much with a Tarantino release. I just want a commentary track for once! Arsenic and Old Lace-Again, a great movie without a blu ray release. Plus, this collection needs more Capra. Come and See-Probably my most desired. A movie this good demands to get the Criterion treatment. No U.S blu ray release as of now. What a shame. |
Re: Criterion Fantasies
For me? Taxi Driver on Blu Ray. Now I know it will never happen. They just released a 40th anniversary version. But Taxi Driver had a laser disc Criterion release so this would be a badass fantasy.
Then again I got plenty of extra features on my 40th anniversary but I would love to see the cover art and booklet insert. |
The Man Who Would Be King
Pennies from Heaven After Hours Images Modern Romance Defending Your Life A Thousand Clowns Joe versus the Volcano The World's Greatest Sinner |

Re: Criterion Fantasies
I would love to see them do Bringing Up Baby. They've already done a few Howard Hawks movie, strange that they haven't gotten around to his magnum opus
|
Re: Criterion Fantasies
I believe that Criterion has yet to release the most fitting film for their entire catalog. And this film is...
Caddyshack |
Re: Criterion Fantasies
Besides bragging that I would be better than any superhero with this power, I would release the following top ten on criterion:
10.) Street Trash (1987) 9.) Witchfinder General (1968) 8.) Kiss of Death (1947) 7.) Sorcerer (1977) 6.) Zodiac (2007) 5.) The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007) 4.) Mean Streets (1973) 3.) The Parallax View (1974) 2.) The Roaring Twenties (1939) 1.) Underworld USA (1961) |

Re: Criterion Fantasies
I think it's high time Criterion released two of their old catalogue titles...
Michael Bay's The Rock And the unsurpassed masterpiece... Michael Bay's Armaggedon. |
Also, don't know how this hasn't been released on Criterion yet:

Well one of my Criterion fantasies are coming true. Stalker is getting a Blu Ray release!
|
Re: Criterion Fantasies
There was some talk about California Split also getting a release soon (this was a few months ago), but nothing official yet. I hope it happens!
Another one I'd like to see released is Bogdanovich's Saint Jack. |

Any good criterion collections that are on region 1 that aren't on region 2, that would be a blessing.
I also wouldn't mind a Blu-Ray criterion for Funny Games. |
Re: Criterion Fantasies
When will Criterion finally get around to the masterpiece The Pest with John Leguizamo?

I learned of another Criterion fantasy coming true! A Blu Ray release for Le Samourai!
Now I want a Blu Ray for Man Bites Dog |
Re: Criterion Fantasies
They should do a release of Poltergeist decked out with extras since no one else will.

I wish criterion would release more silent movies, but I guess we have Kino Lorber to take care of that.
