R.I.P. to a one-of-a-kind cult auteur. I've been slowly working my way through his filmography for about a year now and he's definitely been one of the more entertaining discoveries I've made of late. Good titles to start with would include Cyborg, Nemesis, and Radioactive Dreams.

R. I. P.

I’ve unfortunately only seen Cyborg and (many moons ago) Captain America, but the hosts of one of the podcasts I follow are big fans (one of them even wrote a book about him), so I’ve been meaning to dig further at some point. Everything I’ve heard about his ethos suggests he’d be right up my alley.

One of the few direct-to-video directors with a unique style and vision. The Sword and the Sorcerer, Cyborg, and Nemesis are pretty good B-movies.

Pyun also directed two installments of the original Kickboxer franchise. He directed Kickboxer 2: The Road Back and Kickboxer 4: The Aggressor (which he also co-wrote and would be Sasha Mitchell's last time as David Sloane although a sixth installment was in the works with Mitchell in the mid-2000s). He also directed Bloodmatch, which had an interesting concept: kickboxer seeks revenge for brother by interrogating four suspects by fighting them in the ring. I first was disappointed then did end up liking Heatseeker, which featured the last human kickboxer in a tournament against cyborg kickboxers to rescue his fiancee. And I heard his director's cut of Captain America was actually much better than the original release.

RIP to a great visionary...RIP Albert Pyun.

I hate to hear this. I've enjoyed a couple of his films, especially The Sword and the Sorcerer and Cyborg. I've always wanted to see Radioactive Dreams but have yet to. Godspeed, Albert.
