JayDee's DVD Collection
Finally finished organising my DVD collection after meaning to for years. And as others have posted theirs I thought why not mine (though if anyone can be bothered going through the whole thing I'll be stunned! :p). As you can see it is a massive collection. If I'm being kind to myself buying DVDs is a hobby. If I'm being truthful it's an obsession! :D
It's an interesting mix because of my movie development. I started buying DVDs in 2000 when I was 12 years old so you have a mix of kids/family films that I replaced from VHS early on and for the next couple of years there is quite a lot of dumb, trashy stuff. For example I own more films featuring Martin Lawrence (9 I think) than is humanly safe! :laugh: And as a result of my OCD I think I never really give any DVDs away, even if I didn't particularly like them or don't see myself revisiting them. Believe it or not that wasn't actually all of my DVDs! :D Missed out a few.
So added to the list are - James Bond - every 'official' films plus Never Say Never Again Kick Ass Scott Pilgrim vs the World Towering Inferno Boiling Point Guns and Talks Happiness of the Katakuris Three Men in a Boat Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog And I'll try and tidy it up a bit over time - adding in dates to show if it's an original or remake, adding in particular season details for some TV shows etc EDIT - Still not done!!! :laugh: Forgot about my Lord of the Rings DVDs, all 3 films are the extended editions collebrots box sets still in there fancy boxes. The ones that came with statues. And I've also got hundreds and hundreds (maybe even 1000+) of films taped on disc, along with numerous other TV shows I've either taped myself or picked up on trading sites/forums. Will maybe try and get all them listed as well one day. |

Looking over the list in more detail and got you a few questions. With the boxsets is it just those you've bolded that you like? And for Back to the Future, Beverly Hills Cop, Lethal Weapon etc is it all just the first movie you like?

Which is only about what 15% or so, kind of low actually. Probably a higher percentage for films you hate than the percentage you like! :D May get round to the Marx's Monkey Business at some point. Next up after Duck Soup a while back will be Horse Feathers. Forgot to put that on the list actually as I got it for pennies off ebay as it was just the disc without the artwork. Will need to try and find where that is actually. |

Latest update. Quite a mixture when it comes to the films. No, I liked it, I might have ever recommended it to you at some point, but there were a few on the list that I either liked, but haven't seen in a really long time (Raising Cain or The Howling, for instance) or something like Flash Gordon and War of The Roses, which have never been able to draw me in, but it have there moments and other really love.

Just a fairly small update of recent purchases. I've actually tried to ease off a bit and watch some of the films I've already got instead of just getting more and more. Just a small mix of films, and some Chuck Norris flicks. Not seen any of his films really but got put in the mood by Expendables 2.

Best Seller - James Woods and Brian Dennehy?!? It's worth seeing for that alone. Good thriller, too.
Dream Team - I quite like this. I don't know how funny I'd find it now, but it has Peter Boyle and I remember him being really good in it. Electric Dreams - 80's goodness and a brilliant theme song. That's gonna be stuck in my head now for the rest of the night. Kingdom of the Spiders - Have you seen this before? I love this film. It's a great cross between the 70's 'animals gone mad' and disaster movie. Not only that, but you get Shatner as a cowboy. :D Mask - I'm going to assume this the Cher movie. I like that film Maximum Overdrive - Really bad fun. :D Mechanic, The - Hoping this isn't The Stath Murder in the First - Two excellent performances from Bacon and Slater and a great supporting cast, too. I've not seen this since the late 90's, but I'm sure it'll hold up. Pitch Perfect - I've not seen this, but I've heard suprisingly good things about it. There again, I hear good things about Glee, too. Star Chamber - Have you seen this before? If not, this will feel very familiar as it feels like a 70's thriller but, sadly, it's just a little too 80's to be that good. :D Wild Things - I love this film. I don't think it made my 100, but on another day it could've. I've not seen this for ages, either. Man Bites Dog - It's in my top 10. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think. |

Picked them up at the weekend and had them sitting separately. One you'll certainly approve of HK, not sure about the other. Gone With the Wind Sleepy Hollow Sleepy Hollow I saw years and years ago. Remember very little of it other than I think I liked it. And Gone With the Wind is a film I should see at some point. The only problem with trying to record it on TV is that with ads it could be on for 5+ hours and it would always clash with other stuff. So finally just went with the good old blind buy DVD |

Well I fell off the wagon again! :D I can be alright for a spell and then within the space of just a few days I go crazy. And it's extra crazy just now as I'm not really watching any 'new' films at all just now. I'm still on my epic rewatch quest as I try and figure out my top 100.
Last week I was in town for the first time in a long while and had a bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket. And I just happened to stumble across a lot of films I'm intersting in seeing at decent/good prices. So in the one shopping trip I picked up the following 11 DVDs for just £29 - Breakfast on Pluto Crying Game, The Doors, The Fountain, The Gosford Park Henry's Crime JFK Mercury Rising Sugarland Express, The Thank You For Smoking Festen Also picked up another bundle in the days following - D.E.B.S. Four Brothers Hackers Hardware Looper Of Mice and Men Ruby Sparks Sessions, The Silver Linings Playbook Sixth Sense, The Theatre of Blood |

Well I watched and was impressed with The Crying Game a short while back, and have been curious about Breakfast on Pluto for a while. And both just happened to be on the shelves at the store I was in for £2 and £3 respectively. D.E.B.S. was one I became aware of a while back and just happened to stumble across a used copy online for 75p so felt it was worth a try. Think that's all isn't it? |

Pump Up The Volume and Cloud Atlas are two huge favourites for me, and I also love the Kill Bills. I also think Planet Terror is ok, and I watched So I Married An Axe Murderer recently and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
