Director Sion Sono Accused of Multiple Sexual Assaults, Trading Sex for Film Roles

The allegations are terrible, his attitude is terrible and the "apology" is terrible.
He's made some of my favorite films of the last 20 years. UGH :(

I don't even want to read what he did.

It's the old "do you want to be in my movie" bit, but he seems especially unrepentant and his team's official apology is completely lacking in substance. "Sorry for the inconvenience" is a phrase that was used.

Agh no. Hugely disappointing for such a boundary pusher to be accused of crimes such as these. Sympathy goes to the victims.

Yeah it was more sad that actor Tak Sakaguchi admitted and apologized for escorting a woman to Sono's apartment where one of the assaults happened. This situation is just maddening!

Wow...and I thought that the "casting couch" was a thing of the past. It seems that old habits die hard.

Really? Why? I'm more surprised that people are surprised/shocked that it happens and by whom.

People abusing their power over others will never be a thing of the past.

The best that can happen is to put standards, expectations, and serious consequences in place that curtail some of it.

A "cultured pervert" turns out to be just another predator in disguise. Just disgusting.

Unless the wave becomes bigger, knowing Japan won't be surprised that such a case later will just shove under the carpet as the time goes on.

Yeah. In a former life, I was one of the "HR" people that composed those consequences. Somehow, people like this don't think about the consequence until their lawyer tells them about it.
