FORUM GAME:

I believe that a major part of a person's " true nature" can be exposed by determining which people he or she looks up to, respects, loves, likes, dislikes or hates. That's why I decided to start this little forum game. I think it's interesting to see which MoFos like/dislike which kind of people.

This is kind of what I have in mind (fictional example):

Sexy Celebrity:
"Joaquin Phoenix?"

Miss Vicky:
"LIKE!

Martin Scorsese?"

Gunslinger:
"LIKE!

Jimmy Carter?"

Yoda:
"DISLIKE!

Drew Barrymore?"

Honeykid:

etc...

You can always refine your opinion a little bit after the obligatory Like/Dislike response (that would actually even make it more interesting). ;)

The intention of this thread is that it's exclusively about people. What those people do, doesn't really matter (politicians, famous scientists, writers, actors, singers, TV reporters, etc.), but don't be ridiculous and start asking if someone likes your aunt or something like that. To keep the thread relevant, you have to ask about reasonably well-known people.

Like. She has certain... "personality flaws", to say the least, but I also think she has a genuinely cool artistic vision sometimes (I like most of her videoclips for example). There are things about her that I'm definitely not a fan of and I usually don't like popstars who're doing "controversial" things to get attention, but I'm going with the positive response anyway, because I can't say that I truly dislike her. :p

I think we will learn more about us all, if this thread is more free-form. As I or others might have a strong opinion about a person mentioned upstream, but if we're only allowed to reply to the last post, the responses could be milqtoast.

One of us might like to comment on an older post. So is that possible?

Well, it's meant as a forum game, so I think it's better to just stick to the format. You can make another thread that allows people to express their strong love or hate for a certain person in a free form (with discussions and stuff like that), though. ;)

Dislike. I once saw more potential in him, but ultimately I think he's too dry. He doesn't have what it takes to keep his performances interesting (for me). Nothing against him as a person, though. He seems like an OK guy.

I agree! I like him, but "dry" is the right word for him. I call him "The Mannequin" because he just seems like he's modeling in every one of his movies. Great to look at, but nothing's really there. Worked well for him in Lars & The Real Girl, though.

Actually, I'd probably like him if he wasn't so overrated. He's really not that great of an actor. That's not to say I don't like him in some stuff, at this point there is no one else I can see as Jack in Titanic. But as an actor, he's pretty meh. The only performance of his that actually impressed me was in Wolf of Wall Street.

I am a big Tarantino fan, but casting DiCapio is the dumbest thing he ever did. That character deserved so much more.

We have a major disagreement about that then, I guess. :p
I thought he gave one of the most brilliantly entertaining villain performances in quite some time in Django Unchained.

Never heard anyone say this before. I thought everyone loved him as Calvin Candie. He nailed it, in my opinion. It's one of my favorite performances of DiCaprio and also one of my favorite performances in a Tarantino movie. :p

He's way too serious in Inception, to the point where it's over the top. I f*cking loved that movie when it came out, but two things bugged me - spouting the "10 percent of our brain" myth, and DiCaprio's performance.

First your comment about Lindsey Buckingham's equipment yesterday and now this. You're dead to me, Swan. :mad:

He looks like he's squeezing one out there. He always looks like he's about to burst a blood vessel when he gets angry.

I'd rank him a close #2 on my list of favorite actors right now (that spot used to be taken by Russell Crowe, but he's been in a bunch of crappy movies recently). I think DiCaprio is incredibly talented. I've always admired his acting since seeing him in Gilbert Grape and ever since Blood Diamond I've admired other things about him as well. ;)

That's not charisma. He playing a smug a**hole, that's it. Whatever is good about Calvin Candle is entirely due to Tarantino's writing. I like the Calvin Candle character, I think he's great, but I think DiCaprio did a terrible job of portraying him.

Leo DiCaprio was freaking badass in Django Unchained. It's one of the most memorable performances of the decade so far.

He's one of the few truly charismatic Hollywood stars of our time. He will go down in history as one of the greatest.

I don't think I'm a full-blooded DiCaprio hater like you say though.

He might be remembered as a big movie star, but I highly doubt he'll be remembered as one of the greatest actors.
