Red Dawn 2010 Remake

Tony Gilroy, meanwhile, was the writer on all three “Bourne” films, so it stands to reason his introduction to the remake is primarily to make it more “Bourne”-ish. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki will star alongside Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek). Hemsworth will play the group's leader, Jed Eckert (originally played by Patrick Swayze), and Peck will be reprising Charlie Sheen's role as Jed's younger brother, with Palicki filling in for Jennifer Grey as the tough-as-nails fighter and love interest for Jed. In the original film, our heroes went up against invading Communist hoards, but for the update it has been changed from Communists to a more generic threat of Russian and Chinese military. Red Dawn is to begin filming in September, the film is scheduled to hit theaters Sept. 24, 2010. What was so great about Red Dawn to make it worth a remake?

Explosions Galore on the Set of Red Dawn Things on the set of the Red Dawn remake sure have been jumping lately. Tanks, machine guns, explosions, Chinese invaders, and oh yeah, EXPLOSIONS! Thanks to the great guys over at Red Dawn 2010, we have some fan footage of an explosion from the set of movie as they were filming it as well as some great high quality stills taken by photographer David Guralnick at The Detroit News. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfTdmvie-RE&feature=player_embedded We also have some photos by David Guralnick at The Detroit Times during the filming of another explosion scene in downtown Detroit the other day. You can see that it’s a Chinese converted “Friendship” building of some sort and who ever that is walking away from it apparently isn’t too happy with their friendship because as he walks away BADA-BOOM! You can see the explosions below and check out The Detroit News website for the rest of the photos. http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/boom2.jpg http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/boom4.jpg http://screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/boom6.jpg Here's all 3 of them animated...kinda cool eh? :) Red Dawn lands in theaters September 24th, 2010. I always had a soft spot for the original and am not sure how I feel about a remake... I mean it looks cool and all... but, to me, it's kinda like Dirty Dancing... it's Patrick Swayze's movie...

Re: Red Dawn 2010 Remake
John Milius is one of my all time favorite film makers. Currently, two of his movies (Conan is the other) are being “remade”.
- First off, I will be very much surprised if the directing even comes close to John’s capable hands (on Red Dawn or Conan remakes). - Second, the Soviet Union is long dead. Unless there is a complete new political scenario, it makes no sense to me to do a remake of Red Dawn – unless you want to go down the alternate history track. Kind of dumb to do a remake that now has to be an alternate history movie. They should come up with a new idea for an alternate history movie. If that is the case. A world jihad and America under siege by a Muslim takeover would be more in tune with world events than a rehashing of the defunct Soviet threat. Unless China is the enemy and that would be really stupid, on many levels. - And lastly – The Bourne movies suck big time. Why mimic movies that were so poorly filmed? I guess steadicams are hip now. Not like it is anything new. Shoulder shots have been around forever – same thing. Funny thing is, the Bourne movies are a remake The Bourne Identity Sounds likes another bad idea coming out of Hollywood. |

At the UN after Homer's gone AWOL with a nuclear sub: Russian official: The Soviet Union will be pleased to offer amnesty to your wayward vessel. American official: The Soviet Union? We thought you guys broke up. Russian official: Yes, that's what we wanted you to think! Ha Ha Ha! Lenin breaking from his glass display tomb: Must crush Capitalism, err! |

:)
The Soviet Union was the biggest scam ever run on the Russian people. The socialist government incorporated all private property as state held land and properties – stripping everything from the individual to give it to “the people”. Now all those farms, factories and everything else is being bought off by huge corporations. A whole nation raped. Too funny. What a bunch of suckers. |
Re: Red Dawn 2010 Remake
Ack, we're all suckers. Most of us at least.

Re: Red Dawn 2010 Remake
If they do a remake of Red Dwan and really want to make a fortune off this movie, then bring in Don Swayze, patricks brother to play in a role.

I can't get psyched for this, no matter how much I'd like to be. I can only hope it's good and that I like it.

Dirty Dancing, Point Break, and Red Dawn. Seriously who did Patrick Swayze piss off.
Red Dawn remake to be released next year
Sep 26, 2011 http://www.killerfilm.com/wp-content...to-300x187.jpg While fans have been against MGM’s remake of Red Dawn, it looks as though the film will actually get released sometime next year. Sources are telling The LA Times, FilmDistrict has decided to distribute the film. No studio wanted to touch the film after it was revealed the villains in the remake would be from China, and they’re afraid of offending the Chinese, a huge market in the film business. However, the villains were digitally altered to be from North Korea, a country that’s not a market for American movies. There’s no specific date on when the film will hit theaters. |

Re: Red Dawn 2010 Remake
I loved the original and am looking forward to the remake, but I'd have liked to see the Soviets as the enemy again.

Re: Red Dawn 2010 Remake
The original Red Dawn was a Right wing wet dream. This time around i don't know if portraying plucky insurgents will resonate quite the same way.
|
I was thinking the same thing Dex-- bad time for this remake! (plucky insurgents, lol)
