Lethal Weapon 5

Is there any news on this? Believe it or not, I loved the first 4, so even though this might be pushing it, I'd love to see a sequel. *Puts on flame-returdant suit on*

Krackalackin 02-13-05 10:17 PM

yep

Can you spell Not-gonna-happen....?

MyRobotSuit 02-13-05 10:21 PM

I really liked four. It gets alot of slack but it's actually really funny and has some amazing action in it.

The 'Froggy' conversion cracks me up.

I want a 5 but 4 may have closed it off with all the photographs at the end sort of closing the chapter.

dillskies88 02-13-05 10:22 PM

I don't think so and if there was any news i'm sure jrs would have it on the blog.

MyRobotSuit 02-13-05 10:25 PM

Jrs or his friend the internet ?

Richard Hell 02-14-05 05:35 PM

I think I'll speak for Danny Glover when I say, "he's gettin to old for this ****"

MOVIE_bug 03-03-05 04:19 PM

i hope there is another lethal weapon movie. the 4 were awesome, but i guess castle has a point. how old is glover now? on top of that, gibson isnt getting any younger.
there could be no lethal weapon if neither gibson or glover came back.

~Floydbuster 03-12-05 03:40 AM

Yeah...the series closed IMO

LadiesMan 03-14-05 09:09 PM

Are these guys gonna be fighting the bad guys from the nursing home? Loved the first one ... and the response "But, but, you're black!" Silly bad guys.

Bubba Ho-Tep proved that it can be done.

"It looks like the band just might back together. Deadline hears that Mel Gibson, Danny Glover, Richard Donner are all huddling on the possibility of doing another film for the the Lethal Weapon franchise. In the scenario we’ve heard Donner would direct and Channing Gibson (Lethal Weapon 4) would script. There are many moving parts, but we’ve heard that all are on board and exploring another film. It would move forward, of course, at Warner Bros."

Very happy donner isn't recasting.

Lol at the artists.stupid autocorrect

Someone made a good point (beyond my elementary brand of reasoning) somewhere...

The first two are like cop thrillers with awesome sax interludes, while the other are like a couple of smucks slapstick comedies. "paraphrasing"

:)

If they are like the first two, tell Reggie my body is ready.

Why? They're soooo......old.

I wouldn't say no.

An interview with retired director Richard Donner has surfaced, and it looks like Lethal Weapon 5 could still be in the works.

JoBlo reports that it's happening! Gibson, Glover, and Donner are all returning

Yep...
Murtaugh was celebrating his 50th birthday in the 1987 original.
So, in-universe, he'd be 83 this year.

My Dad's almost that age, and he can't handle a small incline or drive at night.

Either that or Lethal Geriatrics

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

“We are definitely too old for this sh*t!”
Murtaugh and Riggs

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

I mean, the man not only had a grandchild at the end of 4 but that child is now old enough to join the police force. What are the odds that ends up being the set-up?

The Rodent 01-29-20 12:58 PM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

Yeah it'll be Riggs and Murtaugh's kids and grandkids probably.
Gibson and Glover will probably be pushed to secondary places until a big finale.

The Rodent 01-29-20 01:12 PM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

Aha!
Got it.

1, 2, 3 were about Riggs dealing with the death of his wife, then another death of a lover, then finding love... and Murtaugh's family life.
Part 4 was Riggs becoming a father, Murtaugh becoming a grandfather.

Part 5: Riggs and Murtaugh are full on Captains now, doing the office job.

Riggs becomes a grandfather, something happens to Riggs' son causing Riggs and Murtaugh to leave their office and take to the streets, and Murtaugh dies.

No need to go see it now :D

Maybe Joe Pesci will return also.

I doubt Pesci will return.
He had to be persuaded heavily by Deniro and Scorsese to get back to acting in Irishman, and since the movie came out, he has not made any public appearances, not in many of the full-cast interviews (the ones he did attend, he hardly said a word), not in any of the awards ceremonies (despite his nominations), not anywhere.

Gideon58 01-29-20 02:09 PM

Do you think Pesci might be having some health issues? He looked uncomfortably thin in The Irishman.

Wyldesyde19 01-29-20 02:16 PM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

Pesci has been a virtual recluse from the hollywood scene the past 20 years, leaving acting behind him. I’ve read he wanted to be a singer during that time and actually released an album or two.
He’s made maybe 2 appearances in films since? The Good Shepherd and The Irishman.

rambond 02-02-20 01:16 AM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

For me it wouldn t work without pesci now that he s part of the team in some way..his character was so funny in the fourth

The Rodent 11-19-20 06:01 PM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

Mel Gibson has gone on record during his marketing for "Fat Man" saying Lethal Weapon 5, is an "absolute".

Apparently himself, Richard Donner and Danny Glover are all totally up for it, and the script is being worked on.

mattiasflgrtll6 11-20-20 04:24 AM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

It wouldn’t surprise me if they can’t get Pesci to come back unfortunately. After Lethal Weapon 4 he’s only made 3 film appearances (4 if you count his voice overdub in Savva. Serdtse voina). I'm grateful they even managed to get him to appear in The Irishman, it was incredible to see his return on the big screen.

Siddon 11-20-20 04:43 AM

Pesci really shouldn't have come back for 4...so I don't see why you would bring him in for 5. Part of me would love it if Eddie Murphy, Sylvester Stallone, Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis and Nick Nolte all showed up. Sort of an Avengers EndGame of 80's cops.

I think I'm in the minority in liking the fourth one.

It's okay but Pesci was an add on that didn't make sense. Chris Rock and Jet Li made sense. Pesci should have been one and done.

The Rodent 11-20-20 03:53 PM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

I liked the fourth one as well tbh.
Better than the 3rd by a huge margin.

Mesmerized 02-03-22 12:12 AM

I was just going over Mel Gibson's movies and it looks like there will be a Lethal Weapon 5.

Not much information given here.

At this point all I expect is an overcrowded family sitcom.

GulfportDoc 02-03-22 07:36 PM

Glover is 75. Gibson is 66. Wouldn't expect a lot of high steppin'...:)

They'll probably make use of body doubles in this one.

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

There is no news about the fifth part.. I have browsed the imdb website and TMDB as well as the movie page is there, but there is not even an official poster until now

The Rodent 03-11-22 02:57 AM

Re: Lethal Weapon 5

News in, Gibson is back... Glover is back...

And Gibson is directing, saying he wanted to direct as homage to Richard Donner who died July 5th 2021.

No news as to the rest of the cast though (Murtaugh's family, the Chief etc), but here's hoping they keep tradition of having the same cast that were in Lethal Weapon 1-4.

Working title is Lethal Finale.
