Old made for TV love story
 

I doubt this will get an answer. From many years ago, maybe about the time Love American Style was airing. There was a love story about two couples. Set in contemporary time. All I remember is the very end. The one couple was breaking up. He was a singer. As her final words, she says "go sing your songs David" The name could be wrong. He goes out on stage and in the audience are the other two that are going to make it as a couple.
