Greatest B Movie!

In my opinion the God of B movies is Bruce Campbell. With his crowning role being Ashley 'Ash' Williams in The Evil Dead series.

I love this guy.

I will agree, Ash is awesome.

I like The Dentist, and the remake of The Blob.

There are so many and the answer can change depending on how you define "B-Movie". However I will chose:

The Little Shop of Horrors (1960)

(Roger Corman is the greatest producer of B-Movies of all time)

Re: Greatest B Movie!

The Hidden
C.H.U.D.
Night of the Comet
He Knows You're Alone
. . .

I can't list just one. I could easily name more, though.

I love me some cheese!

Something tells me that this topic already exist. I probably posted in it, as well!

The best b-horror movie out there right now is Gingerdeadman 2, Passion of the Crust. They're making a third one!

Sawman3 08-18-08 07:07 PM

Re: Greatest B Movie!

Kill Bill
Grindhouse
Hostel
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Evil Dead series / Army of Darkness
Sin City
Leperchaunz 4 (hilarious)
Pulp Fiction
and so on...

Of course, a lot of these are really masterpieces in disguise, IMO, but still... :p

Again...Captain America. LAME.

PLan 9 is of course the top of the heap.

This Island Earth is righ tup there.

The best INTENTIONAL B-movie is easily "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra."

Re: Greatest B Movie!

I'd go with Touch of Evil, which is my favorite Welles film. What I love about this one is how, fifty years after it was made, it still looks modern in terms of direction. There's not a single shot that feels out of place and, if you're having difficulties following the plot, you can just sit back and enjoy the superb tracking shots or excellent B&W cinematography. Perhaps not all of the film's elements work as well (most notably, the casting choice of Heston), but there are many things about it that make it a true masterpiece.

Re: Greatest B Movie!

I find the use of Heston to be less problematic than most. He's often considered a lousy actor, but I'm still not sure where that idea came from. Welles probably never would have been able to make the film if Heston wasn't on board, so I wouldn't let those "Pinky and the Brain" bits in Ed Wood throw everybody off as far as how Welles and Heston worked together. Welles doesn't need Heston to make the film more ridiculous than it actually is. As you implied above, just be happy that the film is restored as well as it is and survives enough to give you as much pleasure as it does.

I loves me some Rock N Roll High School. I've seen it hundreds of times, and it's still amazingly dumb fun. Love the Ramones, love PJ Soles, love the exploding mice, love Ron Howard's creepy brother, and I ADORE the soundtrack (still one of the best soundtrack albums ever).

Also, Death Race 2000 is up there, too.

Forget the crappy looking remake with unfrozen caveman Jason Statham, watch this version. It's hilarious.:D

Jaws.

But if we're not including this kind of thing, then probably Death Race 2000.

Jaws? a B movie:suspicious:

Death Race 2000, now you're talking, Roger Corman is the man! As noted long ago by Eramus Folly.

If Jaws counts, so does The Terminator, and that would have to be the greatest ever.

Published: October 26, 1984
''The Terminator,'' which opens today at Loews State and other theaters, is a B-movie with flair.
