Favorite Movie "Aw Come On!" Moments
I'm talking about those moments in movies that no matter how much you are able to suspend disbelief, you just don't buy it...whether it is a special effect, a perilous situation that a character gets out of but realistically wouldn't be able to, a character's behavior in a particular environment that wouldn't be tolerated IRL, a romantic choice that just seems ridiculously wrong...I'm talking about those moments that even though you know it's just a movie, you still go, "Aw come on!" and it's impossible to accept and maybe even take you out of the rest of the movie. An example off the top of my head:
The "Give My Daughter the Shot" scene in Terms of Endearment...it's a wildly theatrical moment in the film that Shirley MacLaine nails, but I'm pretty sure that IRL, Aurora Greenway would have been escorted out of the hospital by security before she got halfway through that tirade. |

I felt a bit like that, when that "thing" happened towards the end of Nightcrawler (y'all who have seen it knows).
It felt more like the director tried to create a shock effect and surprise people, but the thing is, he did absolutely fine with everything that came before it, no need to be like all the other predictable movies around... But it didn't ruin the movie for me not even the least, but I was just slightly annoyed by it. |

Simba and who ever that lioness is in the Lion King when they fall in love. It felt very forced and the chemistry was barley there because they just met after how many years has gone by. When they had a child at the end, I actually rolled my eyes and said For f*ck sake...

I always knew this scene in "3rd Rock from the Sun" looked familiar, but I could never figure out where I had seen it before. :) Terms of Endearment Movie CLIP - Emma's Pain Shot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plqzeUB9B-w 3rd Rock from The Sun - I Brake for Dick - Chipmunk's Pain Shot Jump to 9:15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6Q7ZKH_gbY |

I don't know this feeling. When something like that happens it's mainly in sleaze films and kitsch is good.

The bus juimp in Speed. I love it and you cheer at it's stupidity, but, "Aw, come on!"
