Blade Runner Question
 

The scene where Captain Bryant is trying to convince Deckard to hunt the Replicants.


Deckard turns to walk away and Bryant says;


"Cmon, if you're not Cops you're little people"


Deckard then says "No choice huh".


What does the "if you're not cops you're little people" line actually mean?


Does it mean if Deckard doesn't do as he's ordered then he will be fired, hence the little people bit?

I see that line in 3 ways:
1. Simply how it sounds
2. As a nod to what kind of society the film is based around
3. Cops are proud. There are Cops, and there is everyone else


I never took it as a statement of "Do it or get fired"

It's always bothered me that line, just looking for how others read it.

What does the "if you're not cops you're little people" line actually mean?

I see this line as the director or writer building sympathy for the replicates. That sympathy is repeated through out the film, mainly by the replicates themselves.

Maybe the Boss is hinting that he knows Deckard is a replicant. That he has special status as a cop, immune from being hunted like the others.
