Looking forward to Wolf on Wall Street, and in answer to anyone who is probably wondering, yes I am seeing that over Catching Fire

I haven't even seen ten of his pictures, but from what I have watched I can safely say that he's one of my favorite directors.
1. Shutter Island

5. The Departed
6. Hugo

Since you've not seen alot but you clearly like him the next 2 i'd suggest to watch are The Aviator and The King of Comedy. This thread has just reminded me to watch Gangs of New York and The Departed i've been putting the off for years and i don't know why

Looking more objectively:

1. Taxi Driver
2. Goodfellas
3. Cape Fear
4. Raging Bull
5. The Aviator
6. The Last Temptation Of Christ (I don't understand why Scorsese says that he would like to remake it or he wish he had more budget to make it better,I think it's very good as it is)
7. Casino
8. The Departed
9. Gangs Of New York
10. Shutter Island

I'd totally recommend The Departed if you're into gangster flicks. It's one of the few in the genre that didn't bore me. And thank you for the recommendations, I'll definitely look for those.

I was about to mention that I think there must be a new thread started about Scorsese and his films every week on here :D

Nice to see some people had "King of Comedy" on their list. I love that movie. "Is that cork?"

Re: Top 10 Scorsese pictures

Holden's thread has a TON of great info in it, so I try to link it across when I can!

I will update my list: *UNDER CONSTRUCTION*

1. Goodfellas - Yes, I still have this over Taxi Driver, because I still like it just a tad more.
2. Taxi Driver - One of the best films ever made, period. I learn a little more about cinema each time I watch it.
3. Raging Bull - This is probably technically his best work, and a bona fide masterpiece.
4. Alice Doesn't Live here Anymore. Not one you see on these lists, but i lived about a mile from the giant cow skull building seen in this flick, and the road scenes with Mom and son mirror my own childhood in an almost frighteningly similar way.
5. Mean Streets - This thing is was way ahead of its time. Still a couple weird cuts that bother me, but who am I to judge?
6. Gangs of New York - This is a tour de force of fantastic film direction and editing. This one gets a lot of crap, and none of the derisive comments make much sense to me.

Bah - I have to run an errand. Will finish my post when I return!

Just the top 5

1. Taxi Driver
2. Goodfellas
3. Raging Bull
4. The King of Comedy
5. Mean Streets

Scorsese is far from my favourite. But I like his inspirations are. Fellini, Satyajit Ray, Kurosawa, Kubrick and etc. His films introduced me to the depths of cinema.
