Okay... so this was Raul's idea and now he's offline. WTF.
Am currently sitting at the DVD menu, which is playing some music that's becoming rather obnoxious. Raul better get his butt in here pronto.

There is Russell Crowe aka Maximus decimus

Miss Vicky 09-21-13 04:09 PM

I haven't seen it in awhile either. It used to be my favorite movie. I saw it five times in the theater and countless times on DVD and VHS.

This site is starting to remind me of the Nintendo system I had as a kid. You know it will work at some point, but it's just so hard to get rid of that gray screen. Maybe if you blow on it a little.

Crowe was insanely good but the support cast was excellent, particularly Phoenix and Connie Nielson.

I did you a favor watching this movie. Next up: Naomi Watts or Rachel McAdams:)

Re: Miss Vicky's Movie Commentaries

People point out this scene as being a goof because Maximus says his wife has black hair, but the actress who plays her has brown hair. Actually his line was ad libbed and the actress hadn't yet been cast.

Most definitely, it's in my top 100 after all.

I think the only Naomi Watts in my collection are king kong and The Ring. Mcadams I've got Wedding Crashers and State of Play. I don't care for either actress.

Marcus Aurelius has in just a few words, sealed his fate and Maximus's.

Commodus is not a moral man. You have known that since you were young. Commodus cannot rule. He MUST not rule.

You are the son that I should have had.

That's because you are a girl though:p

This film is much more quotable than I thought it was, it's just hard to keep up.

The scars on Cicero's face are real. The actor got those when he was mugged at knifepoint. His attackers slashed his face up really bad.

Commodus is actually one of the few movie villains that I've felt kind of sorry for. It can really screw a person up to not be loved by their parents.
