MaXXXine - Sequel to X
 
Ti West announced at TIFF after the premiere of the X prequel Pearl that A24 has greenlit a sequel set to begin shooting next year called MaXXXine. Mia Goth returns as Maxine Minx, who goes to great lengths to make it as an actress in 1980's Hollywood. A24 released an official promo

In Ti West X, they are making an adult film. Maxine is a burlesque dancer who wants to make it in the porno business. That's why it's MaXXXine.

I have no idea what people saw in X but the talk about Pearl and the even larger hype that MaxXxine is getting, I probably should give them a go some time…

You definitely don't have to watch Pearl and you might gain some context if you watch X. Mia Goth plays the same character in MaXXXine as in X, but different to Pearl.
