Spent previous weekend in the old Spa town of Hisarya (Thracian region of South Bulgaria).
It is a great tourist spot for all seasons. Hot springs, many modern spa-hotels and on top of everything the remains of the ancient Roman city of Diocletianopolis. More than two-thirds of its city-walls are considerably preserved.

Here some fresh winter pictures I took of the place:

▽ The south gate - symbol of the town:

▽ The colonnade with hot mineral water fountains in the town center:

▽ The warm pool in our hotel:

▽ The beautiful park that connects the new spa hotels with the ancient town:

The last weekend, spent couple of hours at the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia. Every last Sunday of a month, the admission is free.
There are a lot of interesting things if you know the history. The building itself is a valuable spot too. It is a former mosque, built in 15th century. The museum was established in 1892.

▽ The main entrance with the lapidarium outside.

▽ The main hall seen from the gallery

▽ The golden treasure from Valchitran, Pleven (end of second millennium BC)

▽ Silver container for wine (2nd-3rd century)

▽ Ottoman ceremonial helmet. Gilded bronze (16th century)

I was lucky enough to take a private jet down to Arkansas to see the solar eclipse at full totality. The experience went really well since the weather there was exceptional. Here are some pictures I took throughout the day:

Here's the jet we took to get there and back.

Here's a pamphlet they had on board which gave some info as to the type of jet.

Here's part of the interior of the jet.

Shortly after takeoff.

I don't remember the name of this drink, but it's champagne mixed with orange and mango juice.

Since we arrived fairly early, we waited in the terminal for a couple hours.

This was after our group arrived and set up our gear.

Another shot at some of the telescopes we had set up.

This was taken as the sky began to get dark.

I know this is blurry since I had to screenshot it from a video in order for it to post here, but this was what the sky looked like at full totality. I also took a video of the sun at full totality, but it didn't show up well on my phone. My Dad took some quality photos with his telescope though, so once he develops them, I'll post one here.

These were some liquor samples I picked up at the end of the flight.

We also took some group photos, but since they have my face in them, I prefer not to post them here.

You're so lucky @SpelingError, I'd have loved to have done that.

Is the drink you had a Bucks Fizz? That's orange juice and champagne but I've never heard of Mango added, so I don't know if that's an addition or a totally different drink?

Also the totality pic isn't showing for me. Anyone else or is it just me?

I just looked it up. It's a Mango Mimosa.

Also, I'll repost the totality pic:

Again, it's not the best shot for the reason mentioned up above, but you can definitely see a clear difference in the sky.

@SpelingError, Nervous Nellie me would be a tad alarmed by this pamphlet. Isn’t it a given that the captain & crew would be “thoroughly trained and experienced”? And the copyright is 22 years old!

Aren't most planes in service today usually a few decades old? I think they are, but obviously there are some exceptions.
