Movie about electronic cable system in a house, that tries to stab mother
 

Please help! As a child, I saw a young movie in the mid 90's. There was an electronic computer driven cable system within the house of a mother and child. At the end of the movie, the cable system (perhaps using a hand) tries to stab the mother. The system is deactivated/destroyed, and the final scene shows it powering up in another family's household.

It has been truly bugging me for years. Any wild guess greatly appreciated. Sorry I can't offer more, I was SO young at the time..

Sorry, really should have described it better...

A bunch of cables connected to the roof. There was an electronic computer that could travel using these cables, and was capable of movement e.g. carrying a knife.

The only movie I know remotely like that is Demon Seed, But that is not it.

Is it Hardware?

Note: If you're mixing up plots, then also have a look at Pulse (1988). It has a similar story (appliances gone rogue), except that towards the end, it's the dad and the kid who take on the electric disturbance :)
