I liked Trainspotting, but I am unsure if a sequel is needed.

I read the book in question and generally liked it enough to not think of it as fundamentally unnecessary. It will be interesting to see how making the gap between stories twenty years instead of the original ten is liable to change things.

I'm quite unsure of this... Yeah, I'm one of those persons who think you shouldn't mess with a great movie by doing sequels!

First trailer. Warning: appears to contain brief nudity.

Guess Spud falling off the roof and Renton catching him is this films Renton swimming down the toilet. I loved the look of Spud especially the first time you saw him. Despite my Scottishness i'm not a fan of Trainspotting but i do want to see this.

And that nudity traumatized me Iro, you should be banned!

We'll see how I go.

It seems like it's gonna be a blast of blast from the past.

The thing i'm most curious about is the soundtrack. The first time i watched it when i was 12 or something i loved it 90% because of the music, hadn't really heard anything like that at that age. I think it would be a bit of a copout to rehash that.

Re: Trainspotting 2

Looks really flaky for me. Danny Boyle is a Director who has done some brilliant stuff and some terrible stuff. This looks like a mish mash of both. Need to see the film first of course, but if the trailer is anything to go by it's a re-hash of the first one with added hollywood sentimentality and some wannabe Winding-Refn cinematography.. ...

"Remember that movie that I did ages ago, well here's some more of it that's unnecessary and not as novel"

I'll be happy to be proved wrong. I hope it's great.

I got two thoughts... the first film was legendary. I lived in Scotland, surrounded by addicts when the first film was released.
This film looks like it could be a fun return.

Second thought, it looks like a rerun/rehash.

I'll definitely catch it though

Refn didn't invent neon lighting.

In any case, seeing as this is the first actual sequel of Boyle's filmmaking career it should indicate that he sees potential here that wasn't evident in, say, 28 Weeks Later. That being said, I'm not confident - there are only three or four films of his that I actually like and the most recent one came out in 2007 so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I never said Refn invented anything.

Well, the book this film is based on was called Porno. No joke.

Re: Trainspotting 2

No it wasn;t, it was called Trainspotting, written by Irvine Welsh.

Edit, my bad, yeah the sequel is based on Porno.

Of course, they can't call the film Porno, can they?
