The Cinematic Confessional

Confess ye ole' celluloid sins.

I, soberly and regretfully, put out into the vast void of the internet that I do not own a single Martin Scorsese DVD and yet I own Nothing But Trouble.

If it can be forgiven...

LordSlaytan 02-28-05 11:17 PM

I've seen Robin Hood: Men in Tights around twenty times.

I know a Holden secret. Hohohoheeheeheehahaha.

I demand 4 cans of sardines, a pair of black dockers, and a shrimp boat...or I tteeellllll...the secret.

Mwahahahahaha....

Sedai 03-01-05 11:59 AM

Ok here is my list o sins....

Demolition Man - "Is it hot in here, or is it just me?"

I LOVE this cornball load of a film. The cheesey one-liners, the campy-future sets, and yes, even Sandra Bullock is looking good in this one.

Send a Maniac to catch one....

Return of the Living Dead

"I know you're in there Tina...I can smell your brains!!!"

Ah, punk rocker zombies, don't think it gets much worse than this...

Outlaw2x4 03-01-05 02:13 PM

That's nothing to be ashamed of, Dumb & Dumber is just plain funny.

But then again, this is coming from a guy who enjoys Billy Madison.

"He called the s***, 'Poop!'"

led_zeppelin 03-02-05 10:24 AM

These are two sins I've gotten rid of. . .or whatever.
1.)I used to like the movie Now and Then
2.)I used to hate Donnie Darko (it still doesn't really impress me but I don't hate now)

No, to the present. . .
1.)I almost teared up in the Fox and the Hound when the old lady leaves the fox in the woods. Suicide never seemed so good.
2.)I wanted to watch Titanic yesterday. I WANTED to! adajlasguaslk *shudder*

Piddzilla 03-03-05 03:25 AM

I am having trouble coming up with any good ones for this one... I think a film is good if I like it. Does Clueless count?

Sidewinder 03-03-05 04:56 AM

I am a proud owner of a 'Demolition Man' DVD. Not only do I revel in the cheesiness of this film but the DVD features some of the worst dubbing ever in a movie when they attempted to wipe out all 'Taco Bell' references and replace them with 'Pizza Hut', which needless to say cracks me up every time.

Booth: Gun. Noun. Portable firearm. This device was widely utilized in the urban wars of the late twentieth century. Referred to as a pistol, a piece...
Simon Phoenix: Look I don't need a history lesson! C'mon, HAL, where are the god damn guns?
Moral Statute Machine: You are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.
Simon Phoenix: What? %$#@ you!
Moral Statute Machine: Your repeated violation of the Verbal Morality Statute has caused me to notify the San Angeles Police Department. Please remain where you are for your reprimand.
Simon Phoenix: Yeah, right.
[police sirens approach]
Simon Phoenix: #@$%ers are fast too.

I also have the Transformers Movie on DVD as well, I still get misty when that brave Optimus Prime dies.

I've seen a version od Die Hard like that. They changed all the swear words to jibberish. Like the Yippee Kay eh line was changed to " Yippee Kay eh-Kemo sa!" That doesnt even make sense!

'Kicked, i really Kicked his ass.'

I liked both Clueless and Starship Troopers. Personally, I don't see anything to be embarrassed about with either.

Now, if you wanna talk embarrassment...I have always wanted to learn the banjo and somehow incorporate it within the realm of black metal. Cool or Embarrassing? You be the judge.

BTW: UC...what is your avatar from? I recognise it from somewhere, but I just can't place it.

I Loved Starship Troopers.
I Love Sturat Gordon.
(I actually sat through Robot Jox, 17 times, I own Reanimator and laugh my ass off throughout ;))
I secretly want to be on "Dinner for Five."
I am in complete lust with Kate Winslet, Queen Latifa and Helen Mirren.
I love Spike Lee.
(I actually only find Rosie Perez annoying part of the time)
I have never walked out on a film, even Solar Babies which brings me to the 2nd part of this confession, I actually saw it in the theater on opening weekend! ALONE!
Despite the bashing from the left and the right I love Michael Moore.
I was doubled over with laughter during Hot Shots Part Deux.
Another Het male confession...I loved The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
I cried when Optimus Prime died.
Father/son storylines ALWAYS hit me....right here.

I love Steven Segal

Ahhh I feel better now :)

Agreed.

After raking both TCM and all the hip aisan horror fils over the coals I have permenently banned myself from any Horror remake, especially a fun film like Price's "House."

I have to say though I did like what they did with Dawn of the Dead, but I like Ving Rames, Mekhi Phifer and Matt Frewer so even if the GORGEOUS Sarah Polley wasnt in it I'd still have watched.

Ugh, tell me about it. I've been meaning to read the book anyway. Not that it'll change my mind, since I've already seen the film - but at least I'd have some idea of where they're coming from. Admittedly, the film has problems. But it does quite a few things right, including character development (particularly Dina Meyer's character), scale and setting (just look at the production value), and some great cinematography. It's just a really fun sci-fi film.

It's funny, the disagreements my father and I have about films always seem to bring us closer together. But not so much that I'll start enjoying Biker Boyz, Final Destination 2, Half Past Dead, or whatever crap movie he's praising at the time. :)

Oh, believe you me I hate myself for it. I've ranted and raved against this movie with much hatred. I'm boycotting it at the box office and getting everyone I know to do so as well. However, this provides me an avenue to see just how much it blows without actually supporting it financially. Plus I just like seeing movies early. Makes me feel pretty.

Oh, you can certainly expect a heartfelt review, but even if it is a worse movie, which topping Seed of Chucky at this point would be an accomplishment akin to a quadriplegic climbing Mount Everest, the sting won't be so bad because it's free.

Paris Hilton in House of Wax:

LOL I feel the same way about "Head of State," my rational side says "what a peice of crap," while my silly side laughs hysterically at all the old white ladies singing "Hot in Heeere."

I thought it was enjoyable, but there was a lot about it that, was (like you said) "decent enough". The tragic parts really weren't very tragic and the comedic parts weren't consistently laugh out loud funny (though I did a good amount). I loved the cast though. Will Farrel was funnier during the glimpses of himself and not when it was Will Farrel playing Woody Allen. And man, I was impressed by the guy from Hackers...

Feelings! Better out than in, as they say. I'm still working on it at times.

See, now, I just laugh my frickin' head off anytime a cinematic pet has to be put down, preferably by the child who loves the pet the most.

My favorite of these comedies is probably The Yearling. Combines the slapstick of Bambi with the madcap hilarity of Born Free -- if Elsa were a deer that kept eating the tobacco crop, that is...

;)

I feel the same way, laughing my head to a migrane when people die in movies. Mainly how they die and if it's all of a sudden shocker to the audience. Sheesh! When it comes to animals though I get all weepy and needing hugs and such.
