I can't stand this actor/actress

I am weiry to make another thread cuz of duplicates, but really I cannot find it in the search button... If there is a thread like this then please delete this one...

I have a serious distaste for some actors and actresses, dead or alive. Whether it is because there voice irritates the hell out of me or they are such bad actors or there is something about their appearence that makes me nausous. Many of them I do respect but there is still this thing about them that I cannot get over. These actors/actresses are:

Rodney Dangerfield: RIP with all due respect, but his voice irritated the heck out of me. I could never watch a movie with him in it because my head would start pounding and I would get very angry. Even in Natural Born Killers (one of my fav. movies) I got so irritated that I plugged my ears.

Julia Roberts: Her face annoys me. And any movie I have seen with her in it, I cannot get through without wanting to scratch out my eyeballs.

Paul Reubens (PeeWee Herman): Even though I liked this guy in Cheech&Chong's Next Movie. His voice annoys me and he comes across to me as a pervert. I feel nausous when I see him.

Gilbert Gottfried: Another annoying voice, and anything he has been in sucks, in my opinion.

The Baldwins: I don't understand the hype. I find them repulsing. There were some great movies they were in, but they are just as dull looking to me as John Travolta.

Well thats it... for now...

I have a problem with the fact that Melanie Griffiths and Mumbles Duchovney can't speak. They're actors. Speaking. Is. The. Job.

Put "Julia Roberts" into the search engine, I had this whole thread dedicated to how much I hate her. I have others though,

Tara Reid ~ What the hell made her famous? She can't act, she looks like trash and her voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Neve Campbell ~ I don't care if all the men folk think she's pretty, she can't act. Her little nervous-laugh-act stretches just so far...

Ben Affleck ~ Can he just stop making movies, PLEASE!! When will people learn?

Jennifer Lopez ~ Did anyone see Maid in Manhatten? It was on STARZ the other day and just like a bad car wreck, I couldn't turn away...it was awful. The rehearsed looks, the clothes change every five minutes, the hair, the make-up, is it a movie or a music video?! ICK!

r3port3r66 11-11-04 06:28 PM

Pauly Shore

Meg Ryan

The actress from Little Black Book, Clueless, Uptown Girls, and that Michael Douglas film, "I'll never te-ell". I can never remember her name--or her movies

Julia?!? Meg!?! Joan!?! Noooooo!!! http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili...sad/scared.gif
Quick...somebody get me a bromide....and put some gin in it. ;)

On my can't stand list is...

Britney Murphy...I HATED Uptown Girls and will probably always associate her with it.
Kevin Costner...bland, dull and boring. I can't stand his voice.
Billy Bob Thornton...I've said this before, but...he give me the creeps.

JLo....2wrongs...I saw Maid in Manhattan also...the ending made me cringe with the double standard that was being thrown in my face. When she proclaims he wouldn't be interested in her if he knew she was a maid...I kept thinking...'would she have gone to all that trouble if he were a busboy and not a millionaire?". Gahhh!

Anyway...up until now I've only liked seeing her on the red carpet. She does have gorgeous skin and the camera does like her....but in a movie...ehhh. I do want to see her in Shall We Dance though. If she does well in a movie that isn't written specifically for her and has to compete with the origianal woman that played the part, I could change my mind about her, but we'll see.

susan 11-11-04 11:49 PM

not a j lo fan myself, but i liked her in maid in manhattan, even if some of the lines and plot were a direct ripoff of ever after..she was great in a supporting role as paulina in shall we dance..

kevin costner i can take or leave..same with keanu reeves...

I love Meg Ryan though, and a few others named here... Billy Bob Thornton and Britney Murphy. I like both of them.

gummo 11-12-04 12:38 AM

I liked JLo in The Cell, other than that... excuse me while I barf

Rain 11-12-04 01:19 AM

*shivers* i cant STAND Julia Roberts....i think shes a crap actress and she doesnt have any looks..thats my opinion.

Ultimate_Thrill 11-12-04 04:08 AM

Chuck Norris annoys me.

I also went through an anti- Nicolas Cage stage but he redeemed himself in Adaptation (2002). Now I can't stand Meg Ryan.

I know. I hated that scene with the other maids, her co-workers, and they are talking about her becoming a manager and they're dancing and singing...ugh! It was so corny I was ashamed to be watching.

I'll never change my mind. The first time I saw her was that movie with George Clooney and she was OK. Then she broke on to the music scene and thought, "Wait! She doesn't have a good voice!!" Then it was the clothes and the perfume and the fashion line...man, I guess if I could dip into all the medias, I'd do it too but there's such a thing as saturation. I'm sick of her.

I think I may change my mind about keeping an open mind about JLo. I just got back from shopping for my daughter. To my surprise I saw a JLO line of clothing for pre-teen girls. PRE-TEENS!! Grrrr...I'm so pissed at this woman at the moment. Why would i want my daughter walking around with "JLO" plasterd across her chest! I don't have a huge problem with her lingre line meant for WOMEN....but she crosses the line when she aims her egocentric, self-absorbed, marketing pushing, money grubbing hands at the younger girls. Can you imagine Katharine Hepburn or Bette Davis trying to sell clothes to pre-teens? Grrrrr.....

Ok...my irrational rant is over. By the way...I noticed Brittney Spears now has a perfume out. :bored:

Re: J Lopez

I liked her in U-turn, an Oliver Stone Neo Noir with Sean Penn and Powers Booth. Also, Out of Sight is a GREAT film with J Lopez in it, directed by S. Soderbergh..

Her booty is good too, even my girlfriend agrees on this point...

ew. I wouldn't want her that close to me ass. Her, Christina, and Jessica Simpson should be dropped on an island and they should have to fight each other to the death. The winner gets a can of tuna and a reality show.

No it was a spin off group for the brother of a new kid...

Donnie was in NKOTB
Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch was the spin off...

I hated those guys, especially after Jeffry Furst, one of the old co-managers of NKOTB, duped my band into giving him $1500 to have him do some recording for us (along with 6 other bands) and then vanished from the area...scam artist son-of-a-bitch.

My band was called Serotonin, and then later on Brain Forest (YUK), and we gigged in the Boston area from about 1993-1998, before we went our separate ways... We did all original stuff, acid-rockish, sort of a cross between Alice-in-chains, Queensryche, and The Beatles. I played lead guitar and sang harmony vocals, as well as writing some of the tunes. We most certainly were not famous outside of Boston, but we had a decent local following.

and although i dont dislike him and appreciatre he is a fantastic actor, i just cant take Edward Norton seriously, when i watched American History X and Fight CLub i thought he was having a giggle the whole time, which i weird due to subject matter...

I had a band called "BenzoSarahTonin". (benzodiazepines and Serotonin). One of the members was Ben who we called "Benzo" because he pops benzos, then me Sarah, then my friend Tony, which we called "Tonin" one night when we were jamming.

That's cool! If I were going to be in a band, my band would be a tribute to the Black Crowes and we would do all my favorite Crowes songs. *sniff* I miss them. :(

Have you seen Jimmy Fallon's imitation of him on SNL? It's about the only thing Fallon does well on that show. The episode I'm thinking of is the one where it's Celebrity Jeopardy and the contestants are Burt Reynolds (Norm McDonald) Sean Connery and French Stewart (Fallon). Will Ferrel is the host of the show...what's his name. It's great.
" Turd Fergison. It's a funny name."

Anyway my choice for most annoying actor is Ashton Kutcher

Charismasloverno5 11-20-04 08:32 AM

I wouldn't even class him as an actor.

My choice would be Orlando Bloom, can't act to save himself. Maybe that's why he has broke so many bones, heh heh

I have to go with charismaslover here, but a near second is Keanu Reeves

Orlando Bloom - The guy has absolutley no talent. At all.
Nicolas Cage - Not necessarily for being a bad actor, but for proving that he can act, and then doing more Bruckheimer movies.

Wow, some interesting choices!!!

Ben Affleck can't act to save himself - but I reakon he'd be good fun in real life and has a top body!

Kate Beckinsale (or what ever). Pretty girl - CRAP actress

Martin Short
Martin Lawrence - destroy both immediately

Nicole Kidman - she's ok in 'serious' roles, but she CANNOT do comedy and is about as sexy as my grandma in a bikini!

I agree with Nicolas Cage. I think he's been very VERY lucky.

Toby Maguire - he may be hung like a donkey, but all I can say is THANK GOD cause he's as dull as dishwater on screen!!!

Pyro Tramp 11-30-04 12:43 PM

Heath Ledger and Ioan Gruffud
If Ioan does get the new Bond role, i may burn my eyes out

Nicole Kidman is about as sexy as my grandma in a bikini!
what? (again...) except she's got Hollywood's most perfect ass! compare it with Beckinsale's or any other. that is fat free!

Well, at the risk of ticking people off, I can *not* stand Angelina Jolie. I will grant you, she is talented, perhaps even one of the best female actresses of her generation. But her tendency for flaunting her personal life is a real turn off to me. I don't give a fugg if Billy Bob screwed her till she bled. Geez!

Mel "The Egomaniac" Gibson isn't one of my favorite celebrities either. Note to Mel: you made a film about Jesus, but you ain't him so get over yourself already.

There are others, but the list will be long, so I will quit while I'm ahead.

BTW, Annie if you're reading this, I received a notification that you'd posted a welcome message to me in another thread, but I couldn't find it. Thanks very much. This is a good forum.

I am not defending Angelina Jolie or anything but every famous person gets their life flaunted all over the media at some point and yeah lately Jolie is in the media eye more than most other actors/esses but her time will end and then another actor with be in the spotlight.

I understand, but at the same time, there are some details an actor never has to reveal to the public, ya know? I mean, unless a camera crew was in the room when Jolie was screwing Billy Bob, how would anyone know about their sex life?

Because they talked about it to the press. They made that choice.

Angelina Jolie can tell me anything...I would listen.

Exactly my point! So the media can't be blamed for spreading the story, because the media was sought out and given the story.

I can't stand Orlando Bloom. No talent what so ever. LOTR may have launched his career, but how long will he last?

As long as there'll be horny teenage girls to go out and watch his movies.

She amazes me. I think she's so beautiful. I don't care one way or the other about her acting abilities. However, Tomb Raider is my all time favorite Playstation game, so I have to give her props for being the human version of my hero Lara Croft.

What the hell? He's an ego maniac? Since when? I just think he got sick and tired of critics whining about his pride & joy, so he got a little testy about. I thought he was very humble and gracious excepting the award for Braveheart a couple of years ago. You never see him flashing his family around and he's been married since the 80's to the same woman and he has like 7 kids...I think you've pegged him wrong.

There’s just something about her look and voice that drives me up the wall. She has a mouth that seems to be in a constant state of sneering; even when she smiles. I disliked Star Trek Voyager as much as I dislike her.

http://entimg.msn.com/i/150/ce/0210/...ce_150x185.jpgMartin Lawrence
This guy annoys me beyond belief. He plays the same role every single movie he does; loud mouthed, smart ass, always gotta crack a joke. Hey, wise up, Martin. That stereotype already ruined Eddie Murphy’s career!

http://entimg.msn.com/i/150/ce/0301/...ta_150x218.jpgJohn Travolta
Since Get Shorty, Travolta has done nothing but play lackluster characters in a lackluster manner, and has bored the hell out of me. I’d gladly take him off my list if he would quit taking any script that came his way. In my opinion, he’s grossly overrated.

http://entimg.msn.com/i/150/ce/0104/...ll_150x208.jpgJulia Roberts
I just can’t get into her acting. She’s an actress that carries over mannerisms from film to film that distract me. My least favorite is that one moment in every one of her films when she lets out her big horsy laugh guffaw. doG, I hate that.

http://entimg.msn.com/i/150/ce/0212/...ng_150x218.jpgDebra Messing
I have yet to see what other people see in this woman. She overacts all the time. She’s not funny. I just don’t get the appeal. I have yet to see her in anything that made an impression of talent of any sort.

http://services.windowsmedia.com/vid...001479LPR5.jpgTreat Williams
It’s not like Treat has had a whole lot of breaks in A-list movies, but maybe that’s because he doesn’t have a leading man appeal. I don’t know. Usually, if I see he actually ‘stars’ in a film; I walk on by.

http://entimg.msn.com/i/150/ce/mar/H...ni_150x207.jpgHilary Duff
Yeah, she’s a wet dream for dads everywhere. Yeah, she ain’t hard on the eyes. But, since when is sex appeal talent? Oh yeah, since the last couple of decades or so. I’m so sick of the slew of pretty young actors that have no real talent becoming so damn famous. It makes me sick. What Hollywood needs is a rush of ‘homely’ actors to take over like there was in the seventies. Then maybe there will be less worship of the beautiful, and more respect for the talented. I can make a list of 100 new actors that suck the leprous donkey d**k, and are only famous because they’re hot…but why bore you with pictures of people like Paris Hilton?

I am with you on this one LordyLord. :yup:

I like Treat, I loved him in 'The Ritz' :D

ash_is_the_gal 02-06-05 06:55 AM

I'm sorry, but I just fkn HAAATE Nichole Kidman. She always looks so darn conceited, it even shows in her acting. Shes like "Yeah, I know im THE GAL" well look at the screen name lady!

And she looks exactly like an albino python. long, white, and venemous.

Even back in, for example, Days of Thunder, she has these facial features like she is made of plastic. Its horrible. The woman should just stop acting like she owns the screen!

If you ruled an actor or actress in due to ego, you would have to include all of them.

I thought he did a damn good job in Prince of the City.

What about his role as Critical Bill in Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead?

I think the real reason you don't like him is his nickname is 'Treat.'

Add Laura Linney to my list.

Holden Pike 02-06-05 04:30 PM

I love Laura Linney.

And while Treat Williams has had almost no good roles since the early 1980s when he started making horrible career choices, he is indeed great in Sidney Lumet's Prince of the City (1981) as well as Milos Forman's big screen adaptation of Hair (1979) and in Joyce Chopra's Smooth Talk (1985) with Laura Dern. I also like him as the comic heavy in Spielberg's 1941 (1979) and as Jimmy Conway in Leone's epic Once Upon A Time in America (1984). And while the film is not very good, I like him personally in The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper (1981).

But since that string of flicks, the only thing he's at all impressed me in is HBO's "The Late Shift" (1996) where he plays Mike Ovitz with great glee and a supporting role in a small but great little flick called Where the Rivers Flow North (1993) starring Rip Torn and Tantoo Cardinal. He's OK in Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead and The Devil's Own, but they aren't very good movies and he's not asked to do much. But that he's been stuck in material like Deep Rising and straight-to-video The Substitute sequels, it's not like the guy is getting many opportunities to prove he can act.

I've never watched an episode of "Everwood". Not because I don't like Treat on screen, but because I can't stomach that touchy-feely, weepy-soapy, heavy-handed drama crap on the WB. *GAG* But from what I see when I flip by it, at least Treat is getting to do more than when he's running from sea monsters or battling gang members while teaching math. So maybe a good director will pluck him off the scrapheap and give his movie career a much needed long overdue shot in the arm?

ANYway...

LordSlaytan 02-06-05 04:58 PM

I like some of Treat's work, but he's had too many years of starring in ***** productions. I feel the same way about Travolta, Berenger (who I used to love), Modine, Stoltz, and Hutton. I think they are all talented, but have made too many lousy choices. I do understand that for some of 'em, it comes down to work or no work, but still.

Of all the ones I just listed, I'd like to see Berenger make a come-back.

Unfortunately, A&E cancelled Nero Wolfe, because that was Hutton's perfect role. It was such a joy seeing him in that.

But to me, those are very, very different things than your automatic, deep-seeded, knee-jerk hate of Julia Roberts. Julia you just plain don't like, no matter what the movie or the role - which is what this thread is supposed to be about. Treat Williams, Timothy Hutton and Tom Berenger, they just aren't in any good movies anymore - which is not what the thread was looking for. You need to put them in the 'actors in need of comebacks' thread, not the 'actors I can't stand the very sight of' thread.

And if you haven't seen Prince of the City at all or in a very long time, track it down. Not only is Treat great in it, but it's the best film role Jerry Orbach ever had too. It's one of Lumet's best, and while not quite the same level as Serpico it's better than Q&A and Night Falls on Manhattan (which are both still good). Unfortunately Prince of the City is not yet available on DVD.
