favorite movie soundtracks: whats yours?

i LOVE the soundtracks to garden state, amelie, rushmore....and many more. just curious about others favorites?

hugs, kate :D

ZombIe=LoVeR 11-06-04 12:04 AM

kill bill mission: impossible donnie darko ernest and the rockers (?)

The Taxi Driver 11-06-04 01:32 AM

im dont really buy movie soundtracks but i like Pulp Fiction, south park:bigger longer and uncut and Team America:world police. Matt stone and trey parker can make some really funny songs

The Sarge 11-06-04 06:29 AM

Predator
Predator2
The Rock
Shaolin Soccer

General instrumental stuff that packs a bit of a punch.

Tacitus 11-06-04 11:22 AM

I'll divide mine into 2 catagories - 1. 'Proper' soundtracks, written for the film. 2. Collections of songs played in the film. ;)

1. Once Upon a Time in America

2. 24 Hour Party People

iluv2viddyfilms 11-06-04 12:44 PM

Boogie Nights

Montrose 11-06-04 04:17 PM

The Big Chill

Dunhill. 11-08-04 04:47 AM

forest gump & trainspotting

noody2004 11-08-04 06:59 AM

Mine are:

1. Lord Of The Rings - all 3 are amazing
2. Donnie Darko
3. Save The Last Dance

chicagofrog 11-08-04 07:36 AM

Donnie Darko
The Ring (oh that song at the end of the American version!)
Spiderman 2

SpoOkY 11-08-04 08:01 AM

Mine are

1) Braveheart
2) Forest Gump
3) Gladiator
4) The Shawshank Redemption
5) The Shining
6) Kill Bill (both volumes)
7) Donnie Darko

All these soundtracks really suited the particular film and helped achieve special moments in each of them respectively that would not have been possible without the magical scores or creative songs used. Try listening to movies like these without the soundtrack and you will see how much is lost and gained by great soundtracks.

matux 11-08-04 02:31 PM

Mine:

1.Snatch(+the two tracks in the trailer that werent in the movie)

2.Pulp Fiction

PS: Spooky.Forest Gump has two R-s Forrest Gump

Rjoepenk 11-08-04 03:00 PM

Damn right Dunhill, I love both of those soundtracks. Tacitus, I believe the first category you mentioned would define a score, not a soundtrack. I like anything involving Tarantino/Rodrigues, especially From dusk 'til dawn. I know I should burn for that though. Snatch is a favourite of mine as well.

Rain 11-11-04 01:51 AM

mine?...
THE CROW ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
THE CROW ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SCORE
RESIDENT EVIL ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SCORE
RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK.

gummo 11-11-04 02:12 AM

I really liked the version of Crying in Mulholland dr.

Juno 11-11-04 06:46 PM

Jurassic Park, Snatch, Pirates of the Caribbean, Moulin Rouge, The Shawshank Redemption, Lord of the Rings.

Too many to mention.

undead_bunny 11-11-04 08:44 PM

Kill Bill. Got me into a lot of music. Including Shivaree. :D

THEDUDE__ 03-29-05 05:02 PM

Rushmore was a little dissapointing, because its missing some good Stones stuff, etc., I guess Empire Records

Justin_Timme 03-29-05 11:13 PM

Probably Team America: World Police would be my favorite.

I'm a sucker for songs that make me laugh, and I was in tears after I heard the song about how bad Pearl Harbor sucked. What was the title . . .

PimpDaShizzle V2.0 03-29-05 11:51 PM

Joe Dirt - This movie and soundtrack work best when listened to in an old car with crappy speakers.
The Lion King - You laugh and I start stabbing things.
Wayne's World - Can be listened to following the Joe Dirt soundtrack.

ViewFinder 03-30-05 03:28 AM

mine would be

Clueless
Empire Records
My Girl
Reality Bites
A Life Less Ordinary
Romeo & Juliet
Angus

lucy_jaimes 03-31-05 08:44 AM

Human Traffic, Chicago. Apart from that i like the new compilatiosn which seem to be comming out lately which incorporate the best songs from different movies. the only problem with them is that they tend to only include the mainstream songs.

Silas 03-31-05 10:31 AM

The big lebowski, Pulp fiction,LOTR, O brother where art thou

SpoOkY 03-31-05 10:56 AM

If the soundtrack adds something really special to a movie then it's gonna be up with my favs, cause while some movies have great music they just don't use it properly for the right scene and the right volume ect..

undercoverlover 03-31-05 12:45 PM

Definately the Team America soundtrack!
10 things i hate about you
Clueless
Crouching tiger hidden dragon
All the American Pie Films
Save the Last Dance
The Wedding Singer
Connie and Carla

Dazed&Confused 03-31-05 03:13 PM

My favorite soundtrack is Pulp fiction but Natural Born Killers, Forrest Gump, Dazed & Confused and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly are all worth a mention

You gotta love Reservoir Dogs and the super sounds of the seventies.

Rock N Roll High School has lots of good tracks by The Ramones.

Did anyone mention Saturday Night Fever, it's not my kind of music but it's definitely a classic soundtrack.

Mose 03-31-05 06:06 PM

Wow... I don't think anyone has brought up my personal fav... High Fidelity... Filled with a wonderfully diverse world of music and features a very surprising Marvin Gaye cover.

AboveTheClouds 03-31-05 06:59 PM

I have a soft spot for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Others include Reservior Dogs, Empire Records and The Gate.

tommygun 03-31-05 08:04 PM

Office Space had some pretty slick tunes.

Damn it feels good to be a gangster.

I'm going to have to say Trainspotting, Rushmore, Snatch, and the Life Aquatic.

Magnum P.I. 04-05-05 02:56 AM

Mine are definitely Hedwig And The Angry Inch (collection of original songs) and Once Upon A Time In The West (mainly instrumental)

lor83b 04-05-05 11:02 AM

Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill Vol.1

Carissima 04-05-05 11:22 AM

1. Romeo and Juliet
2. Trainspotting
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Jackie Brown
5. Reservoir Dogs
6. Donnie Darko

chicagofrog 04-05-05 11:30 AM

Donnie Darko, definitely. not what the director originally wanted in the regular version of the movie, but i've gotten used to it and when watching the director's cut now, i kinda miss the first version i had seen. one of the greatest songs ever in a movie at the end. tears. and then there's this religious music and singing when Donnie and Frank are in the movie theater... wow.

alabama_worley 04-05-05 12:35 PM

The Rules of Attraction
American Beauty
Go
Fear and Loathing

Garrett 04-27-05 10:57 PM

Recently, Sin City and Kung Fu Hustle.

Iroquois 04-30-05 07:37 AM

Non-original music: Easily Shaun of the Dead. It makes the best use of Queen ever.

Little Shop of Horror
Fighting temptations

I guess I'm a traditionalist. I love soundtracks and listen to them all the time, but they're mostly instrumental soundtracks.

My favs:

Gladiator -- Zimmer (this is really an amazing soundtrack and rather different in parts, thanks to Lisa Gerrard's contributions)

Braveheart
Pirates 1, 2

Howard Shore's LOTR soundtracks. They're simply amazing.

I just bought TDK soundtrack. Boy, that music they composed for the Joker is very disturbing. Yikes.
