Fav. of the Indiana Jones trilogy

Mine would have to be Raiders of the Lost Ark. Everyone I've talked to like Last Crusade the most but I like Raiders more. And everyone hates Temple of Doom, WHY?! Although I think they should've had him search for religious artifacts the whole trilogy, Temple of Doom still is good. But anyway, what are you favorites of the trilogy?

Sedai 03-03-04 04:55 PM

Raiders of the Lost Ark by far, although I love the other two as well, including Temple of Doom. Raiders seemed to be templated of classic film whereas the two sequels seemed to be templated off Raiders.

Do you really expect anybody to say anything other than Raiders?

I say Last Crusade!

PS: Temple seemed to be more chaotic with less order than the other two movies, and we also got to see Indy act like a jerk (not just when brainwashed).

Well everyone I've talked to at home and stuff have ALL said Last Crusade, as I've said above.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is of course the best Indy film. I liked The Temple of Doom, I enjoyed watching it, but in my opinion it was a dissapointment compared to Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Last Crusade was great, I loved it. The relationship between Indy and his father was great, but this film doesn't at all compare to the greatness of Raiders.

My star ratings for all 3 films:

Raiders of the Lost Ark - ****
Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom - ***
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - ***1/2

True very true, but what parts does he act like a jerk, when not under the "black sleep of the kalhatchaldkadjfakjd"? You mean when he's yelling at Willie Scott? She deserved it, I would've shot her! *not literally*

Piddzilla 03-04-04 04:43 AM

Raiders of the Lost Ark is the greatest. Temple of Doom is leaning a bit too much towards comedy even if it has some classic lines. But everything that I think is fishy with Spielberg is more visible in Temple of Doom.

FigNewton 03-04-04 01:48 PM

I loved all three but my vote is for The last crusade

Though the seen in The Raiders of the Lost Ark in the marketplace is memorable with the huge beefy swordsman looking as though he's about to chop Indie into bits, Indie cooly stands tall reaches for his holster and shoots the guy point blank.

Classic lines? I love the film but remember no classic lines. Please elaborate.

My fav definetly has to be Last Crusade...

LordSlaytan 03-04-04 09:04 PM

I'm really surprised with all these Crusade votes. I wonder if it's a generational thing. I saw Raiders as a teen when it came out, and Crusade came out so much later, I wonder if the votes are for the people who saw that new as kids. Personally, I think Raiders is vastly superior to Crusade.

jrs 03-05-04 01:03 AM

Raiders is the best of the three in my opinion. It introduced us to Indy's own unique style of fun and adventure, that makes us all "want" to go the movies. It runs to the top of the list of my favorite movies.

Sidewinder 03-05-04 08:44 AM

Easily Raiders, One of my all time favourite films. When I was a kid I watched all of the Indiana Jones and Last Crusade was my favourite but now that im 19 and slightly more wise ;) I see now that Raiders is vastly superior. I still really like the Last Crusade and Temple though.

FigNewton 03-05-04 10:13 AM

Well I don't know I like the fact that you can see how Indie was as a young boy adventurous even then. I guess I just found it interesting. Don't get me wrong I love all 3 but last crusade and raiders are even in my book with temple falling slightly behind.

Aniko 03-05-04 11:22 AM

For me...Raiders is the best from the series. It's more memorable will always be the classic.

The other two...Temple of Doom and Last Crusade I enjoyed alot...but as a whole movie they aren't as memorable for me. There were some scenes from both I still remember and liked, but they're still not quite as good as the original.

And as for being more wise well it might or might not be true but thats each individual opinion of themselves... When I was younger Temple was my fav (I loved the monkey brains scene) but as I got older I leaned towards the Last Crusade

Striel 03-15-04 11:52 PM

The Last Crusade has always been my favorite.

Finally saw Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade this weekend with my kids. I still liked the original Raiders the best...The Temple of Doom second....and in third placeThe Last Crusade.

The kids enjoyed each movie. :)

That scene was actually a fluke. He was supposed to have a big fight with him but Harrison Ford had Indegestion and had to go to the restroom. So he shot the guy and went to the restroom.

Ash_Lee 06-01-04 11:00 AM

Definately Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's got one of the best openings I've seen in a film, I loved the Gestapo guy, the theme song is one of Williams' best, John Rees Ivans (I think that's his name), the script was clever, the build up in the museum when they're explaining the mission and the Ark of the Covenant was surprisingly atmospheric, and when the angle turned into a devil-like creature at the end (the thing that came out of the Ark I mean), it was chilling.
The Last Crusade just seemed to be Raiders of the Lost Ark but bigger, but at the same time less enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, it was still great fun to watch, the chemistry between Indi and his Dad was great, and I still love the part when Indi meets that old knight near the end, but I still feel that Raiders was better.
Temple of Doom just pissed me off. Until the last 20-30 minutes I thought it was boring (and even then it wasn't that good), and instead of having just 1 annoying character, it had 2.

HUH???? Sounds ridiculous. I thought it was that Ford had an injury at the time, and couldn't move the way he was supposed to. Therefore he improvised and shot him with the pistol. Am I wrong

jrs 06-01-04 11:31 AM

As for my favorite, it is definitely Raiders of the Lost Ark. Though I am not looking at it through a trilogy's sense. It's actually the best of a series.

Krackalackin 06-03-04 10:28 PM

Yet another

I will also have to go with the last crusade. Not either of the other two had such an impression on me. Plus, I'm not gonna say the second one was bad. It wasn't. It was actually a good sequal and deserves to be one of the trilogy. But isn't it strange how different it is from the other two? Also, this always struck me as funny but the in the first scene of the second movie when he comes in looking for the diamond, every time I watch that, he always reminds me of James Bond. With the diologue and all and that white jacket he wears. I never understood why they did that, also what was with that stupid chink? Since when does Indy work with little kids regardless if he's in China or whatever. I just thought that was funny. The movie itself is excellent but the third is the best, aknowledging how rarely the third of a trilogy is the best.

Before I get my panties in a bunch over this statement...please explain what you mean. The kid was was a cutie pie...his nationality shouldn't matter.

susan 06-03-04 11:28 PM

my favorite is still raiders, followed by the last crusade..temple of doom has some really cute bits....

conanthebarbero 05-29-05 01:09 AM

a close tie between Raiders and Crusade, but I'd have to go with Crusade because I liked the character interaction between father and son.

As to why Temple of Doom isn't liked very much - I dunno, -- maybe because the artifact (or the theme at least) wasn't Christian-based?

SamsoniteDelilah 05-29-05 01:35 AM

The first, then the third, then all other forms of entertainment.... including mimes... then Temple of Doom.

The reason being, Kate Capshaw was positively insufferable in Temple.... Twelve of her wouldn't equal Karen Allen's lahza apso.

IDigCereal 06-16-05 05:33 PM

Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my top 20 favorite films of all-time. 4/4

The Temple of Doom was great, my introduction to the series, filled with classic lines and some great sequences. Its silly, but still tons of fun. 3.5/4

The Last Crusada was disapointing as a child but now its my second favorite of the series. The chemistry between Ford and Connery is gold, and the action, as always, is classic. 3.5/4

Linko 06-17-05 05:14 AM

Temple of Doom is my favorite. Of course it was the first of the three I ever saw but I always like the plot better than the other two and Shorty was hilarious. I liked the visuals better than in the other two as well and of course the guy getting his heart ripped out and the mines. I'm in the minority for sure but since I'm allowed to make my own decision and the fact that no one has said Temple of Doom yet, I decided I'd post my favorite.
