Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)
You know what this means?
Sinister Six that appeared in Amazing Spider-Man 2... might actually happen now :D |
Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)
I've just realised something.
The DCEU decided to go Multiverse... AFTER Spider-Man: Far From Home was released. Far From Home is when Simmons reappeared as J Jonah Jameson. DC must have crapped themselves and realised what Marvel were doing... also realised the DCEU is total poo... and a Multiverse is a good way to not only compete with the MCU, but also fix their own series of garbage. |
Exciting news. Can't wait.

Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)
News in, Miles Morales is making an appearance as well :D

Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)

|
Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)
ALFRED MOLINA IS BACK AS DOCTOR OCTOPUS!
|
Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)
Ok so we got...
Tom Holland (MCU) Tobey Maguire's Spidey (Raimi) Alfred Molina as Doc Ock (Raimi) JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson (Raimi) Andrew Garfield's Spidey (ASP) Jamie Foxx as Electro (ASP) Studio is in talks for Kirsten Dunst to return as MJ from the Raimiverse. Miles Morales is supposedly being considered to appear. |
Re: Spider-Man 3 (MCU)
I can't shake the feeling, that this movie tries hard to walk in Spiderverse's footsteps. :(

It's been a while since I saw the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies, but I remember thinking that Toby Maguire was too whiny as Spider-Man. I preferred both Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in the role. |

Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
1) The music amuses me. Not sure it's supposed to make me laugh, but still.
2) I really like Tom Holland's acting. He's the only spider-man who 'works', for me. 2b) Then again, I'm not a marvel fan at all, and I don't like spider-man that much, so. 3) My enjoyment of that film will be proportional to the presence of Cumberbatch's Strange. 4) I still believe that the MCU's shift to multiverse stuff will make them lose the casual public that made the success of the first "phases". 5) LOOK IT'S DOCTOR OCTUPUS OMG I FEEL NOTHING. Yeah, not a fan of the earlier movies and spidey in general, so, sorry, doesn't hit as intended here. 5b) Again, am so much not the target audience anyway. 6) So many incoming subversions of the title ("spider-man : no way good", etc). 7) Oh how I hate the idiocracy-level trend of starting trailers with trailer's trailers. |
Spiderman never registered with me, besides it being the only thing to watch at times.
I’m with Tom Holland as feeling like the best one. He just has a natural ease to him that works. Granted, I haven’t watched any of his Spiderman movies, just going on trailers and his appearance in other Marvel films. Oh yea. How bout some Mysterio spoilers! 😝 |

That said, I kind of think of it the same way I think of all the major releases coming out on streaming platforms due to COVID: probably bad for the whole thing long-term, but we reap the short-term benefits of that. With the streaming, it means less viable budgets going forward, but easier access to new films for a couple of years. With the MCU, it means lower stakes (because you can time-hop and multiverse-hop) going forward, but a lot of really bold and significant plot developments in the short-term that should be enjoyable (ala Loki). I like the look of that train stuff. Could be some really fun "MCU does Inception as a fight scene" stuff that we, frankly, didn't get enough of in Doctor Strange. |
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
For me, Tom Holland is not Spider-Man at all and never will be.
He is an Iron Man spider-boy sidekick and battles Iron Man enemies. Sadly for me, I watched all MCU movies where he appears and expected him to become the SPIDER-MAN what he should be! And it never happens... Now they bringing villains from old movies... not sure for what!? If they gonna bring them to finally give this Iron Man spider-boy sidekick the true shape of the Spider-Man to he finally become that - then I can say next: I don't wanna see that old good Spider-Man villains help this pathetic iron man spidey-boy sidekick get ''some good movie'' or shape him into Spider-Man. And especially don't wanna see that Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man gets involved in that. For me, it's just peeing on the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy! But as many actors hate their roles, but still playing them.. money does wonder! And all actors are not Jack Black to turn down roles because they don't wanna **** on prequels as for The Mask - Son of the Mask! With Andrew's duology, diology, dilogie, Diptychs, twology... whatever it is, series, saga... they can do whatever they want - it's the almost same crap as MCU Iron Man spider-boy sidekick! But again bit better! |
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Holland is the best Peter Parker. That is all.
|
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Could be the film to get me back to the theater. Been over a year. Crazy.
|
Holland is number one by a country mile.
Maguire was just a star at the time that got picked. Garfield is a great actor, but he’s got a look/sneer that never fit. Holland can pull off the awshucks, while being believable as overcoming something he may not believe he can, while never relenting. Basically why they cast him as Drake :yup: |
to me i always think tobey mcguire is always better as peter parker. tom holland is okay and andrew hes kinda okay but i prefer to ey as spiderman
|
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Despite being the only thing to watch at times, Spiderman never registered with me. I agree with Tom Holland that he is the finest. He simply exudes a natural ease that works. I admit that I haven't seen any of his Spiderman flicks, relying instead on trailers and his appearances in other Marvel films.

I'm really looking forward to this movie, especially if they bring all 3 Spider-men (Holland, McGuire, Garfield) together.
It would be funny if they brought two Jonah Jamesons together, considering they're played by the same guy: "I'm the real J.J.!" one shouts. "No, I'm the real J.J.!" the other shouts back. :) |

Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
There's been rumours this is Holland's last outing as Spidey.
Both Holland and the director have said in interviews that this movie is "Spider-Man's Endgame". I can't help but think this might be all down to the war between Marvel, Disney and Sony. |

Based on the trailer I saw at least 4 villains and not sure how Tom's Spidey can deal with them even with the help from Dr Strange |

Spider-Man No Way Home(Marvel)
Can't believe it's just a few days till we finally get probably the biggest and most successful movie to ever be produced. Can't thank Marvel Studios enough especially Kevin Feige for making this happen

Re: Spider-Man No Way Home(Marvel)
its not out till next week on the 16th here but i be seeing it on friday with my support worker. i still prefer tobey mcguire better then tom holland , im hoping they will show scarlet witch at the post end credits scenes cause shes my favorite and if they dont show it i still will like the movie

Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Early reviews are excellent...
|
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
It's whatever, but I won't be surprised if it shakes out as the best of the Holland films because even the multiverse/IP-mining approach, while all kinds of cynical, still somehow proves more watchable than the Iron Man Jr. shtick of the previous installments.

You don't see Disney saying tom is going to be in fantastic four or the x-men or anything right now and after he destroyed every phase four-film at the box office in one weekend.

Spider-Man: No Way Home
I'm Speechless & Overwhelmed. No amount of words can describe the emotions i felt today. This is one of the greatest fan service I've ever witnessed. And thus marks one of the greatest MCU movie ever made.
What they pulled off is nothing sort of mind blowing and commendable. Hats off to everyone involved and for making this dream a reality. |
Well I'm convinced!
|
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
Never seen any holland spideys but i will ive heard nothing but good things. i dont think ill start with this one though because im kinda turned off by them bring back the old actors from raimis films, just want them to leave those alone and i hold raimis first 2 in high regard.
But raimi did praise this movie. |
Re: Spider-Man: No Way Home
I liked it. It was a pretty entertaining movie that my 9 year old son loved. But like many Marvel movies it is massively overhyped. I still think the best Marvel stuff out their is Daredevil and The Punisher. Absolutely brilliant series from Netflix.

Spider-Man: No Way Home
Spider-Man: No Way Home is like the proverbial blind squirrel that finds a nut every now and then, except that it doesn’t so much find them as it steals them from another squirrel’s hoard. The massive combined gravitas generated by Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx would be enough to save any other movie; the problem is that this film is not theirs to save, and it’s barely a film at all to begin with – it’s more like the superhero equivalent of that Pink Panther movie they made with spare parts from previous Pink Panther movies.
If I want Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin, why not just revisit 2002’s Spider-Man? Similarly, if I have a hankering for Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, why not just rewatch 2004’s Spider-Man 2? The latter was, according to Roger Ebert, “the best superhero movie since the modern genre was launched with "Superman"”. How the mighty have fallen. It’s great to see Dafoe and Molina sharing screen time, but once the novelty – or rather the nostalgia – wears off, we are left with only a reminder of how comparatively superior Sam Raimi’s trilogy was, as well as a testament of how downhill things have gone since then. When Molina finally arrives, following an excruciatingly dumb, seemingly endless first half hour, he does so like a godsend; unfortunately, as much as we welcome the company of someone with a gleam of intelligence in his eyes, Doc Ock’s edge has been dulled by poor stylistic choices – first, his mechanical tentacles are 100% computer-generated (as opposed to Spider-Man 2, which used CGI to enhance, but not fully replace, a set of prop tentacles), and second, Molina was digitally de-aged (as was Dafoe), though in this case, unlike for example The Irishman, the unintended uncanny valley effect might have been a blessing in disguise; after all, Doc Ock is supposed to be a comic book villain, so that grotesqueness actually becomes him. All things considered, everything and everyone endemic to the MCU Spider-Man is as flat and artificial as cardboard (our sympathy inevitably lies with the villains because, goblins and octopuses though they may be, they remain at all times more human – and certainly have a cleverer sense of humor – than any of the heroes with the exception of Tobey Maguire, and while Spider-Man may prevail over Norman Osborne, Dafoe totally obliterates Holland in terms of acting); at the same time, all the best parts are almost exclusively lifted from the work – and not even the best work at that – of a much more talented filmmaker. To put it bluntly, Spider-Man: No Way Home has absolutely no reason for being. |
I loved this movie. I loved the way it brought bits and pieces of all the other movies. Loved the returns of Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina. Especially loved the bringing together of the three different Spidermans. I LOVED that scene where the three of them are sitting around during some down time, shooting the breeze about their various powers and various adventures they've had as Spiderman.

This isn’t a road I wanted to walk alone. “cue Seager” 😄
I turned down an offer to see the new Marvel movie to the surprise of my friend. Told her, “I’ve got one left in me and then I’m done.” The Marvel sprawl is part of it, along with lack of originality. |
