So bad, and yet so good...

You know you watch them. Movies so bad, but you have to see them. They fulfill some strange sick need....

Waxworks 1 & 2 (Lost in Time)
Buckaroo Bonsai (at the end of the movie they tell you that there will be a sequal...but the sequel didn't happen exactly as planned instead it was reworked into:)
Big Trouble in Little China
Tank Girl (I could have done without the Kangaroo guys, but I guess they are part of the package)
Innocent Blood (There were so many cameos by directors etc that there's a web site dedicated to pointing them out to you.)
Stay Tuned (A over looked John Ritter movie)

Those are some of the ones I own without even looking in my collection!

Confess...what's your passion/poison?

blibblobblib 09-30-03 08:41 AM

Wax Works one and two used to scare me so much. the one where the guy goes into the werewolf one was nasty. And there was a really gruesome one where a guy gets his legs nibbled off by some vampire woman....*shudder* I havtn thought about that movie in ages. like to see it again to see how awful ther are.

nebbit 09-30-03 09:23 AM

Joe Delasandro movies:

Flesh
Trash

 :rotfl:

The Silver Bullet 09-30-03 11:31 AM

Human Traffic isn't that great a movie, but by Gum, I love it...

I own Waxworks 2, but can't find a copy of Waxworks 1; which is ok since I think Waxworks 2 is better anyhoo.

When she hits him in the head with the book? :rotfl:

Hmmmm, I wonder if the writer of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures was influenced in any way.....

Mairosu 09-30-03 08:00 PM

Bloodsport with Van Damme is a huge guilty pleasure of mine...along with Tango & Cash.

Is Stay Tuned the one when Ritter and his wife get sucked in by that satellite dish ? That was hilarious, esp. the cartoony bit.

politesuccubus 10-01-03 03:42 AM

Tex Avery did the cartoon bit, and he's (was) big in cartoons. Ritter was overjoyed to be working for him.

Another guilty pleasure: Tremors. The frist one with Kevin Bacon. Too funny!

And how about Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Mairosu 10-01-03 09:12 AM

O-yeah, Tremors was awesome ! Rep points for reminding me, I gotta hunt down the DVD...

Revenant 10-01-03 03:58 PM

Tremors
:yup:  Can't fault this films inclusion. A brilliant cult movie if ever there was one.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits within

Sure it isn't what FF should have been in film but I still like it.

chunkybeefstyle 10-01-03 10:07 PM

Definitely "Laserblast"

Oh wait, that goes in the "So bad and yet so bad..." category. But I'll still watch it again.

I adore Waxwork II. It is my absolute favorite B-horror-movie sequel of all time.

"Nweoireu, weoreiu wheyei zdaweno..."
"The book's upside down, Douglas."

Bruce Campbell's little cameo there is the crowning moment, with an honorable mention to the last bit, where they sword-fight through all the different horror movies. :D Love it, love it.

My "so bad it's good" list is legion, but here are a few:

Cannibal: The Musical! - Quite possibly the best musical about cannibalism ever filmed. ;)
Bring It On, Center Stage, etc. - I have a kind of addiction to this brand of movies. Which is odd because I'm neither a teenage male nor a lesbian. :D
Any early John Waters movie.
Most of the movies on MST3K - Sometimes because of the commentary, sometimes not. ;)

Oh, hell. I can't think right now, but I'll add more later. I will say, though, that I too love Tremors, but it is not so "bad" that it's good. It is so good, just all the way 'round. Well-made, well-acted, and f*cking hilarious. :yup:

politesuccubus 10-04-03 04:51 AM

The final fight is worth seeing the whole movie for, I agree.
But the bit in the basement when she's throwing stuff and it's hitting Bruce? I both felt back for him and almost peed my pants laughing.

"It's all right, Douglas. It's gone numb."

I also like "Hudson Hawk". And the "Phansasm" (sp?) movies.

I'm sorry to say that I actually agree with that :(

Funny, I quite enjoyed Bring it On, probably because I found it totally intellectually inoffensive unlike the American Pie movies or other moronic teenie comedies.

As for Center Stage, it's one of my wife's favourite films. 'Nuff said there.

And when hard pressed, I'll admit that that ballet in the final scene was awesome. The way you make me feel...

Tuna 10-07-03 09:12 PM

Apparently Mortal Kombat is a guilty pleasure because noone seems to regard it as a good movie :( Just because its based on a video game, contains weird characters and concepts and is directed by Paul W.S Anderson doesn't me-...ohh..uhh..what i meant to say is that I've seen it 597332.4 times and its amazing to me as a fan of the game.

politesuccubus 10-07-03 09:17 PM

It's ok. There, there.

*pats him on the back*

I've watched "Long Kiss Goodnight" almost as many times, and there isn't a video game attached.

Tuna 10-07-03 09:18 PM

I bet I beat you out with that .4 didn't I?

politesuccubus 10-07-03 09:24 PM

Mayyyyyyyyyybe! But then the phone rings, or the friends come over and yell "NOT AGAIN"! And you have to turn it off right after the credits....so I understand.

But I bet I've seem more Danny Kaye flims than you!

The best being "Walter Mitty" ta-pockta, ta-pockta, ta-pockta!

Oh, yes. Another lovely guilty pleasure, and this one has Sammie Jackson to boot. :D

"You're gonna die screaming. And I'm gonna watch."

Sorry, Mair. I shall never generalize again. Or at least not for another week. ;)

And, yes, I love Cooper's ballet at the end. Awesome, awesome.

Hondo333 10-08-03 10:37 AM

Cruel Intentions

Loner 10-15-03 12:04 AM

Any Martial Arts or Samurai movie that's on Sunday morning.

Pappa Bear 10-15-03 12:11 AM

lol good one. How about Piranha, FUNNY SH%T!!!!! best worst movie i have seen in a long time.

nebbit 10-15-03 09:18 AM

This is an oldie but a goodie

ASSULT OF THE KILLER BIMBOS

I love this movie because it is so bad, a very early Thelma and Louise, with a friend.

JANthology 10-17-03 08:23 PM

Mortal Kombat 2 is the worst movie in movie history.

with that said.
in respect to the thread. so bad and yet so good, would have to be Guy Ritchie's two classic numbers 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', and "Snatch'.

Sidewinder 10-17-03 11:45 PM

Mortal Kombat 1 (MK2 was an atrocity), Tango and Cash is also good fun. Last Action Hero is another one, I hate the little kid in it but otherwise I quite enjoy it. :)

Last Action Hero! I love that movie! Thanks for reminding me of it! I'm going to put it on my "must get" list!

Sidewinder 10-19-03 06:45 AM

No Problems, I really like Last Action hero cause for one its Arnie, for two is does'nt take itself to seriously and three, its good fun.

JOELCORE 10-20-03 02:09 AM

better title for this movie very bad but GREAT.

Happy gilmore and Billy maddison.

7thson 10-20-03 02:21 AM

The Heman Movie , Man it sucked, but i loved it..Im strange I know.

ThereWolf 10-22-03 06:28 PM

Without a doubt Plan 9 From Outer Space:
"Greetings, my friends. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember, my friends, future events such as these will affect you in the future."

cmdrcryme 10-23-03 10:24 AM

then allow me to try again.

batman - the movie (the 1966 one with adam west and burt ward)

or teenage mutant ninja turtles. (the first one was halfway decent, after viewing the 2nd one as a mature adult it is VERY corny.)

Beale the Rippe 10-23-03 07:46 PM

Much better...I think.... :p

Tuna 10-23-03 10:34 PM

I loved the TMNT movies i even saw the third one in theatres =/, and when i rewatched 2 i noticed Vanilla Ice was in it and definately decided one was better, didn't give much thought to it when i was younger..

Ah yes, The Blind Swordsman.

Those movies are why I was never impressed by The Matrix.

I've been watching people fly through the air for years.

JANthology 10-30-03 08:05 PM

the matrix is an incredible action film, but yes it has all been done before, but the matrix shouldn't be viewe as a plain old martial arts flick. The ideologies of the matrix shake the world. much like the simpsons

led_zeppelin 11-01-03 05:30 PM

Alien Ressurection has some of the worst dialogue but I still kind of like it. Star Wars Christmas Special, Das Boot, Predator (TERRIBLE dialogue) and Con Air or the Rock. (also lame dialogue)

DrenaiWarrior 11-03-03 02:53 AM

Oh man do i love movies that so many people hate. I will forever love The Never Ending Story (both of them)... and I refuse to believe my friends could ever grow out of them *grins*. I'll agree with Tremors too, Kevin Bacon rules you all in Rock,Paper,Sciscors!!! I loved the movie Screamers (which i don't think anyone liked other than me), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. I'd also like to put myself up for riducle for the following movies
-Carnasour1,2&3 (some of the worst dinosaur movies ever, but damn all to hell the guy that plays Monk in the second movie may be the funniest man alive today ;D )
-Drinking Games (low budget film that most of my friends think is corny)
-The Boondock Saints (ok, this movie was awesome... now if only i could convince Tia that it rules :( )
-Lake Placid (the guy who plays the sheriff... you know, he was Amish in Braveheart...god i love his dripping sarcasm in this movie)
-The Substitute (when he is throwing the kids out of the window from the second floor in the library and Ernie Hudson is just watching...pure comedy)
-The Curve (I'm sorry everyone... but i think i would have Matthew Illards children if i were equipped properly :D ... ever since SLC punk, which by the way should be counted on this list

and ALL MONTY PYTHON... I'll take counter arguements on the count of 5
(thats 3 sir)
oh yes... i mean three

DrenaiWarrior 11-03-03 02:56 AM

Also... i've seen it ripped apart in the sequals section time and again...but i admit i have never seen Escape from New York, but i do love Escape from L.A.

as long as you dont shoot me for my ignorance...i'll be ok :D
