Any fans here? What say you to Ryan Murphy's latest blabbermouth announcement (that guy needs a gimp mask) that season 7 will be themed around current politics?

I gave it a try not too long ago after people constantly telling me to watch it. I wasn't too big a fan.

Which season did you try out, swany? I'm not a fan of anthologies but husband and I got home late one night after a wedding and couldn't sleep so checked out the promos for Murder House. I found the idea of a psychosexual thriller written by a gay ex catholic who had a lot of issues coming out when he was a teen pretty promising. The short promo videos were excellent and I was hooked. I find the writers really push the boundaries with taboo topics.

Not my favourite showrunner. Murphy talks way too much and his showrunner partner needs to slap him with a water tight NDA. Every year he either gives spoilers, or runs off the mouth without a clue (he's working on several other projects so I'm not sure how much involvement he has with this show anymore. According to a lot on the board over there he has ADHD and gets sick of his shows quite quickly, then moves on to other shows). never saw any of his other work except a few episodes of that plastic surgery one years ago - nip tuck.

Denis O'Hare is one of my favourite actors so him in any season is going to tickle my fancy. And Kathy Bates has become a fave through this show.

I started with the first season. I feel like I'd like one of the later seasons more, but people tell me the first is one of the best, or THE best. I didn't like it too much, so that makes me cautious to keep going.

Every season has been divisive. MH was something new at the time and i loved it, but had a rewatch of the first few episodes recently and decided they all have something different to offer. Just comes down to what sort of themes will appeal to each viewer. I just enjoy the ride with each season. Loved the evil gingers in the opening scene and the happy music that was playing as they baseball batted their way in the house. Reminded me of A Clockwork Orange when I first saw it. Lots of homages right through it.

And I love the sets and fish eye lens cinematography.

I liked the first and second alot; think i preferred the second. Hated Coven, Freak Show was alright then i haven't watched since. It's a wildly inconsistent show that can be good at times.

I watch it. Wouldn't say I'm a huge fan, but every now and then it has a pretty good season. Well, thus far only two good seasons in my opinion. Those are Asylum and Hotel. Asylum was the only season that resembled anything horror and with Hotel I really liked the character development. Denis O'Hare was especially great in that season.

The second seems to be the standout favourite on that board. Very dark but really good. I cant rewatch that one, though. Too much catholicism for my liking. Brought back memories of the nuns in primary school. And the shrink's treatment of the lesbian horrified me.

i fell inlove with Liz Taylor. And loved Denis's Tarentino-esq shoot em up scene with kathy. I freaking love that art deco set.

Asylum looks the best to me, and because my sister told me Hotel was the most disturbing or something, I'm want to see that one too.

I might just skip and watch the seasons I want to.

Then it's perfect for you.

Hotel has a disturbing rape scene but every season is rapey. i don't know if one or more of the writers have a rape fetish or if someone is using the show as a catharsis. I have always thought Murphy might be expressing the crap he went through as a teen.

I love Hotel. Liz is the queen of sass.

Depends on what you're looking for. If it's horror, go with Asylum. If you like vampires and something more stylish and dramatic, go with Hotel. Oh and a crazy good soundtrack. Can't forget Hotel's soundtrack, that alone deserved an award.

Depends on what you prefer. You probably know basic content, like asylum being nuns, exorcism, aversion therapy for gays etc etc. also has fear of aliens back then. Hotel is about addiction more than anything else (that's what I got out of it). maybe check first episode of each and see which one appeals more. There are easter egg links connecting the seasons but I;m not sure you're missing out if you miss those. They're loose connections at this point.

Weird, I love horror and I didn't like Asylum at all. The only 2 seasons I didn't like were Asylum and Freak Show. Other than that, love me some AHS.

What didnt you like about Freak Show, cat? Once again, I loved the set, loved Denis, loved the freaks (and the actors who played them), loved Twisty and the Motts. Can't really think of anything I might have not liked. ends with 2 great episodes.

With coven, a lot of people complained it was too teen focused. I think it depends on where your focus is. Mine was on the older actors and I really enjoyed it. Loved loved loved Lange

Oh, I just remembered one of my whines - Stevie Nicks in coven. The camera just does not like her, much the same as Madonna. They simply can't act. When the announcement for GaGa in Hotel was announced I was ready to stab something, but I was pleasantly surprised. She pulled off the old, bored vampire and really rocked some great frocks. didnt like her so much in season 6, but she gets very little screen time so it wasnt too painful.

I miss Jessica :(. The first season was enough for loving her, and then she got main roles! Coven was amazing, a lot of people said they didn't like the Roanoke one, it was different but it's a little bit harsh to be called the worst of them all. I also love when I see Pepper at the end of Freakshow, and how it shows that the stories are all in the same reality/timeline. There is also Lana Winters appearing in that last season, and I realized after the last season that on the first one, they use the Croatoan word too

A lot of people were. It was at that stage people were getting sick of Lange (I never got bored with her myself) and the anachronistic music pissed off a lot of fans (surprisingly, I liked the singing scenes, yet I was really annoyed by the name game in Asylum which a lot of viewers loved because it showed her insanity. I just thought it had Glee written all over it). I loved fleetwood Mac as a kid but loathed Stevie Nick's scenes. Luckily they were minimal.

To be honest my least favorite one might be Freak Show, it didn't have a lot of paranormal appeart from that weird freak recruiting guy. Talking about it, next season will be connected to Freak Show.

I love LR. Thought she was amazing in MH and she just gets better each season.

The dancing is her mimicing Stevie Nicks who does that on stage. the character is like one of the demented Stans on imdb who have Celebrity Worship Syndrome.

I loved Coven. It made me fall in girl love with LR and I got all sappy about Stevie Nicks and I just loved it! I will agree that Stevie was awkward on camera.

And her offkey voice. She was AMAZING. How was the sado scene as a dungeon mistress (the toilet OMG. not saying more for spoilers) and the snuff movie, and that insane orgy, and the chase scenes at the end.

Worth a rewatch for those who didn't like it so much first time IMO. And poor Meep - horrifying. Tragic that the actor who played him died soon after. Seemed like a much loved little guy.

Pity we never got to see what the BIG deal was about Stanley's monster peepee.

The twists are always something cool about the series, someone die unexpectly on the end of an episode and I lose my ****. The best part, no, THE BEST part for me will always be the shooting of Liz and Iris, you just don't expect they were walking on there like 2 gansters with guns!! It was so awesome and hilarious! :rotfl:

Talkin about monsters, in the murder house all babies turn out really bad!! The one of the doctor who was a monster, then the one of Jessica Lange that has a syndrome I think and then the one who died from Vivien and the anti-christ! :eek:

it's pretty fun (lots of dark humour but it'snot a comedy) has some horrifying themes, not really scary. I've never checked under the bed.

Oh, poor Meep :( it was really sad yeah, though I forgot about him shortly after :D The little woman's death was worse :(

The best part is, that if you don't like Season X, Season Y is a whole differeny story, though there are some references, and don't get fool by the title, it's more drama than horror, there aren't those stupid jump scares from Horror Movies for example (I can't say there are none though). So yeah, you should give it a try :) but it's not for everyone though

I think we have a lost in translation moment. The actor who played Meep died after the shoot. The actress who played Elsa's bed warmer is still alive.

Just remember something I don't like. Evan Peters acting as an old character, he totally nailed it but I only see a young man from the other seasons (I was so happy when I saw he got Quick Silver role too)

Yes after the confussion I correct myself and realice that one died, I meant on the show. It's just since she is so small it wouldn't surprise me if she was dead

You can never trust Ryan Murphy. He's a blabbermouth, a liar, has goldfish brain, and I dont think he knows what's going on. He might also be misdirecting. Take it all with a grain of salt.

If it is politics, I hope it's about conspiracy theories like pizzagte. That could be a goer.

AHS entertained me a lot. But only the first and second season I found interesting.

I also found that those many references [cough cough lack of imagination cough cough] to other movies and series were somewhat annoying. Maybe because I expected some originality and didn't get any.

Really dig the animated opening to the Freak Show Season

Only just saw your post, Dev. I really like the nods but I knew before i started watching it would be an homage to classic american horror movies. And yeah, the animated title sequence for Freak Show was great. Probably the only only I could watch each week. The others got my teeth on edge. Really loved the different mood of ?6 as well, but a lot of people hated it.

The thing I really liked on 1st season and made me continue to watch was a scene in which Quicksilver's mom smacks his face. :D Looked real to me.

Quicksilver - is that Evan Peters? I don't recall him from anything else but I've been pretty impressed with him in this. His transatlantic accent in Hotel was excellent, and he was so good in ?6, both as the sht head gay aristocrat and as the 'actor'. Funny as hell. The tweens get a bit squealy for him but you know, that's just girls drooling over an idol. I think he has good range.

You should watch the X-Men Days of the Future Past JUST for the QuickSilver scene :D I was so suprised when I saw him on the big screen, I wasn't expecting that, he even got the best character ever, he fits it perfectly.

I saw that when I was in NYC. American audiences are so much fun, and a fun ride of a movie, but I don't remember him. Never took notice of hs acting until Murder House.

How was that incest scene in Coven.Creepy.

I don't usually remember names of younger actors (like the kids in stranger things are excellent IMO but I don't know who they are or what their character names were) but Evan's been in every season of this and there's been a lot of squealing about him. I wouldn't remember Taissa's name if it weren't for her stan on the board.

How could anyone forget Wade :) "But the reviews say Taissa is great!!! Here are the sources!! , URL1, URL2, URL3......." He would reply to almost EVERY post bashing Taissa. That takes some stamina. At first I found him annoying, but then I was just in awe of his tenacity.
That current JL stan is giving him a run for his money. Some people...I cannot even fathom spending so much time obsessing over a celebrity whether it is defending or attacking them.

I watched Murder House, Asylum and half of Coven.
Season 1 - Decent.
Season 2 - Has a lot of flaws but it's still very good, definitely my favourite
1/2 Season 3 - Garbage. I quit watching the series after this one.

Vivenco (who changed his name to DCMarvel or something) was the Taissa stan. He was actually pretty nice for a stan. Wade was the race baiter who had been trolling that board for years. I'm not sure how long you were on that board but you probably missed it all. I'm convinced Wade was a skinny white dude just trying to bait wars by pretending to be a sassy black chick who hated white peeps. I'll miss the tv shows boards over there simply because it was fascinating to watch the troll alter egos.

I liked the first 2-3 seasons, but it started slipping.. the season with Lady gaga and the hotel was boring and this latest one was just unwatchable. Stopped watching 5-6 episodes in.

You're right! It's all coming back to me. I've been on that board since Season 1, but started posting in Season 2. Long time, but I really never posted that much anyway.

Did you see GrannyMays' posts? An elderly gentlewoman who smoked medicinal weed. Always polite. Gave grandmotherly advice and talked about her grand children or gave tips about keeping the husbands happy. Hilarious stuff. I dont think anyone ever found out who that was.

I remember GrannyMay. She was funny. There were tons of sock accounts on there. Some were quite funny but no idea how people have time for all that.

I have no idea how they stay in character. I tried once and stuffed up on day 2 (not on that board. It was an experiment years ago)

Granny didn't post much. Just every now and then to keep the younguns in line and the stepford wives informed. She was sweet. A crowd favourite.

This new series looks like it's going to be very very interesting. I'm so far behind, I like watching them in order and only half way through Asylum!

The others are very different in atmosphere to Asylum. You will either love them or hate them, Naus. Really divisive seasons, and D Chatterley will probably agree with me it was an extremely whiney board on imdb. I loved them all. 6 was particularly different. Probably got the most hate of any show I've seen but to me it looked like the actors were having a great time. It's also the most brutal if I recall correctly.
